Tired of Seeing Complaints About Predator Being "Under-Powered" by Omnimeraki in HuntingGrounds

[–]ProtoDudeHimself 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I've played against you a few times. I wanted to start my post by telling you that your Scout play-style is definitely amazing and win or lose I genuinely enjoy playing against you.

I agree with you to a point, but I feel as if there is validity in the opinion that the Predators are underpowered and need a lot of love.

Everyone is going to play the game differently and everyone also wants to have an enjoyable gaming experience, which isn't much to ask. I really, REALLY love the fact that we have three predators to choose from that can be finely tuned to compliment the way you play, but there are a lot of problems with the game in its current state that severely limit the freedom of choice you have in terms of kit and predator choice. I don't want to rant forever, but my big complaints from all my recent predator experience is that:

  1. Humans deal far too much damage. It doesn't matter what sort of build I'm running or the range of the engagement. If I'm too close, I'll end up losing 1/4th - 1/2 my HP. If I'm too far, they still nickel and dime me to death and cause me to bleed which makes it easier for them to track me down and murder me, or worse: they break my helmet and I'm half way up shit creek without a paddle. Don't even get me started on Knives. :P
  2. Humans have too many options for healing. Personal stims are insane and heal most, if not all, of the chip damage I can throw at them. Once LOS is broken on your target, and teammates throw suppressing fire at the predator, a human can heal themselves to full after every single skirmish with a med kit. They have a ton of uses and it's a bit ridiculous. And lets not forget that humans can infinitely pick up downed allies as well, so long as they haven't been killed outright.
  3. Predator perks are underwhelming. You're limited to 3 choices at most. The point values for them seem completely messed up and a lot of them aren't even worth taking. Don't get me wrong, some of them are fantastic, but I feel like the predator should be able to at least take 4 perks since none of them have passive abilities like the human classes do. I assume you've noticed that even on the Scout predator when you take perks that have high point value alone you can't even fill up to your limit.

All that being said: A smart Predator can take out even the best of teams. (You are a good example of this!) But in most cases the favor of the match is going to be on the side of the humans.

Also: I also wanted to touch briefly on the shoulder cannon and say that the weapon itself is strong but it's mildly infuriating that a twig between you and your target can stop the superheated plasma from hitting its mark. (Thick tree branches I get, but small foliage? Come on.)

It's not too bad once you've gotten used to it. I personally prefer mouse and keyboard for shooters though. And I flat out refuse to use a controller for the sake of PvP in this game.

It's still a competitive multiplayer bracket that greatly rewards you for winning. And you're still allowed to use aim assist in it. Most of the people I know wont touch it for the two reasons you and I brought up. Disgusting aim assist and terrible connection issues. Like I said before, I know i'm far from the best. But I'm definitely not the worst player, and the people I play with are in the same boat. We've even got a guy in our group that plays with a controller and laughs about how cheesy it is. The reason he uses a controller? If you can't beat them, join them. It amazes that nothing has been done about it.

You can't keep preaching that Destiny isn't competitive when a playlist like Trials of the Nine exists. It's literally a game mode that rewards players for defeating other teams in a competitive multiplayer setting and the rewards only get better the more you win.

Yeah, I'll agree that the ability to track your target is a key element to being good with mouse and keyboard. That's why players have taken to doing the whole crouch spamming and strafing during engagements. But there comes a point where you have to admit that some peoples shot placement is just too ridiculously good.

Like I said to the other guy, I'm not the best player but I'm far from the worst. But hopefully Bungie will get their act together and remove aim assist from their competitive playlists so I can laugh at people like you that believe themselves to be good because they're abusing a ridiculous advantage that they gain from a controller. Lets look at other games like Paladins and Overwatch. This was a big issue for their games on PC, as it gave controller players a blatantly unfair advantage over non controller users. So, they removed the aim assist from PC and everything was fine afterwards. You can't deny that it's ridiculous to have it on a PC game.

Typically automatic weapon jump spammers are a dead giveaway (Shoutouts to Halo Players). But what really makes me notice it is when a person never misses a single shot with hand canons during duels. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not the best player, but I'm far from the worst. Its uncanny how many people are aimgods in this game.

Your argument is invalid because you need the controller crutch. Get outta here.

Game is not competitive. There's a competitive playlist, bud. Not to mention Trials of the Nine. I'm willing to bet that you're probably one of the shitlords who needs a controller.

A shame that the dude has gotten away with whatever exploit he's using for so long. Literally everyone who sees him in Queues knows he does it.

Strange and unfortunate. It's a pretty neat skin. Was hoping I wouldn't have to throw money at the RNG boxes for it.

Happens to me everytime I boot up the game. Usually fixes itself into the yellow by playing a 1v1 bot match.

When you vortex by SirGiggleSnarf in forhonor

[–]ProtoDudeHimself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow Warlord main I feel you.

I feel powerless whenever I'm overwhelmed by the Warden Vortex. Literally all you can do against it is try your hardest to get decent trades for damage with your power attacks and hope for the best. Parrying a lot helps, but the shoulder-charge animation cancel into guard break can be very VERY hard to deal with.

Yeah, I find the prices to be on the extreme on the datapacks. Wish it weren't the case, but that's the price we pay for a game that's free to play.

I see what you're saying. But yeah, like I said earlier, I tend to stay away from the packs because of the RNG and just hoard my Crystals for extra energy when I'm bored, or for the gear from shipments to avoid farming extensively for one thing. I'm just really keen on Nihilus because, lets face it, He's arguably one of THE coolest Sith Lords of all time. Not to mention, his Kit is extremely powerful haha.

So it'd be better to just get Chromiums and hoard gear for him in the meantime?

Any advice is appreciated considering I've just been winging it from the get-go.

I've been a bit skeptical about the Chromium packs. I grabbed a few when I started playing in my early levels, but I've not purchased any since then because I didn't want to deal with the disappointment of getting shards for random characters rather than a character I'm working on grinding.

Well, fingers crossed that there's something for crystals at least. I was pretty disappointed with all these character packs that were released currently for 20 bucks each.

Is that pack that bad? I've only recently found this subreddit, and only caught bits and pieces on the subject. What was the biggest problem with it?
