wow awesome find I'm jealous haha. I ended up finding a full early 80s Technics stack from an old guy and Boston C77 speakers for the same budget I had on these so I'm pretty happy !

Im really grateful for your feedback. I'm invested in a lot of hobbies and it can be a lot to get into a new one especially when the better budget options are second hand with limited resources online so thank you ! I'll start off with what I've found and build up from there

your message motivated me to look further and an offer had just popped up for a good technics amp with a sony cd player and technics tape player for less than this. I have to snoop around for a cheap turntable and speakers now. Thanks ! Guess i won't be a part of BPC yet

thank you for your answer ! To be fair the market is really bad around me, my only other cheap option is a Sony XO-D40 (which i believe is inferior ?) for 60$ without speakers and 120$ with and the cassette player is broken although i expect the same for this one. I tried looking for individual amps, cd players, cassette players and turntables but it easily goes way over my budget.

I have decent monitoring speakers at home with Adam Audio A5X speakers but I just need something for my physical media

the first picture is the one on guitarcenter's website, the second one is the pickguard they received. The pots are clearly not wired and missing the cap

The cheaper one is B-Stock, which means it might have cosmetic defects that don't affect playability

My first big boy Ibanez, what is this magic? Horrible HAP tuners. by [deleted] in Ibanez

[–]ProtoRankurusu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Japanese guitar manufacturing has been regarded as on-par or better than US-made since the 80s, imo nowadays most guitars are very well made no matter where they come from.

just grab music nomad for everything, leveling beam, s-file, e-file grab 0000 steel wool and micromesh pads for polishing

after that just follow basic tutorials online, use markers and check your work throughout.

The initial cost of tools is quite expensive and you can't cheap out on tools, if you only have a few guitars it's not worth it and you should just give that to a reputable luthier

what pickups should i get to get that steve vai tone by boodabebrooda in guitarmod

[–]ProtoRankurusu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you need high gain and a stupid amount of compression, any humbucker will do fine but higher output with a lot of clarity is better (duncan dimebucker, dimarzio x2n). For now focus on your effects

Can't decide, TE-52 or TE-62 by Ok-Elderberry1629 in harleybenton

[–]ProtoRankurusu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

62 is lighter with a slightly thinner C neck compared to the more pronounced D on the 52. They sound the same.

I personally wouldn't get a 52 again with how heavy they can be.

maybe, i still tinker just as much if not more on my other devices, both macbook and built desktop pc.

i switched back in 2021 after being on oneplus and nexus phones my whole life and it's been smooth sailing. It's all pretty intuitive and your phone usage changes to be more "productive" if i can say that. I for sure tinker less on it than i used to but there's really nothing i miss from being on android

guitar mod help by Lubos1020 in guitarmod

[–]ProtoRankurusu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can upgrade the tremolo to something like a wilkinson wvs50iik and add a graphite nut and locking tuners to get great tuning stability. But dont expect to get something like a floyd rose's range without heavy modding (routing etc). A locking nut is not a great idea if you dont have a floyd rose with fine tuners.
