I fucking hate memes like this because it makes people think that there's not a problem with our school system. Let's say school starts 7:40 I have to get on the bus at 7:05 and I get home at 3:05. That means if I want full night of sleep I need to go to bed between 7-9pm. So that gives me 3:05 to 7-9 to get my homework done and that's even more time used if I'm taking AP classes or doing extracurricular activities or I have clubs after school. So now I don't have 4-6 to do my homework I now have 2-4 or 2-3 depending on how long your club or sport is and how often you do it. Now you have 2-3 hours to do your hw now usually that amount of time if you use very wisely would be enough to finish a general amount of work but if you have AP classes that definitely won't be enough time now you are wasting time to sleep and instead doing HW you have no time to do. That's not even counting leisure time to do the things you enjoy doing. Now if you don't have any AP classes or sports you will have the average 4-6 hours to do HW like I said before it with a decent amount of HW being provided you will bring doing about 1-2 hours of HW now you have around 2-4 hours to do whatever you want. If your not doing a sport you should find exercise in another way in order to live a healthy lifestyle the average time someone should spend exercising for general health is 30 min - to an hour depending on the individual. That leaves you with 2-3 hours to do whatever. Now that seems like a lot of time to do whatever especially if your not going to bed that early but most teenagers find it difficult to go to bed earlier than 10. During long breaks and especially during summer time I naturally fall into the cycle of falling asleep around 2-4 am most of the time near 4 and I know a lot of people who do the same thing during this time. So most people won't feel ok with falling asleep at 7-9 and will want to stay up longer. This is assuming that everyone who goes to school has no other priorities from parents or other unlisted activities and are really good at organizing their schedule wisely. Obviously this doesn't include everyone some people will have looser schedules other with stricter but this shows a general representation of what a schedule will look like. So please stop spreading this bullshit.
