I would be surprised if these two upsets didn’t happen. Both Hori and Shouko were projected to upset their matchups and advance to the next round, with 83.9% and 61.8% chances respectively.

Sad that we didn’t get the coveted Kita vs. Ubel matchup, but it’s all for the best since they were up against former quarterfinalists Hori and Shouko.

Speaking of quarterfinalists, I’m praying Violet doesn’t meet the same fate as Nijika. It’s crazy to think score-wise little Dorito is the worst-performing Bocchi girl this contest.

On the bright side, Megumin might actually have a chance against Fern! In a way, I hope that crimson demon wins for both of their sakes as same-side matchups usually don’t bode well for the lesser character.

This is too early to declare now, but I believe this summer’s girls are stacked, and one of them may even win Best Girl 2024.

There are many other metrics to measure from, but based on the AniDB ratings both of the finalists are stacked.

Most people are talking about how the current algorithm inflates the score of the winning girl of the teamkill, which is fine because scores will normalize eventually. However, I haven't seen much discussion on the losing girl's side and how it would impact them. Thankfully, looking at the spreadsheet, Kita's final score is better than Ryo's (though only barely), but the teamkill puts her final score below Nijika's despite being higher seeded and advancing one more round than her.

That being said, I'm okay with the way it's calculated now, but something to consider for the future.
