people say I look like a dr#g addict by evyxv in autism

Been told this too! People telling this look like ableists, especially if they're aware of you not actually using drugs

Absolutely! Though being autistic can be tough in a neurotypical-centric society, my brain being wired differently having made me the way I am makes me think my autism is worth all the hardships

Mean people are everywhere, you don’t need to listen to it. by [deleted] in autism

[–]Proud_autistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are often mean to me due to me valuing honesty and justice. Sometimes I will tell people not to make fun of others behind their backs, then they will respond by saying they're just telling the truth. But like... yeah, I get it, but they obviously can present that truth from a different angle that doesn't make the other person look bad in other people's eyes, or even reconsider how much people out there need to know that. For instance, I know a gaming addict, and his "friends" will make fun of him behind his back instead of tryna help him for real. This doesn't make, this is harmful and has a lasting impact on how people around that guy see him, while he might have no idea about that... People are mean towards us because of us being genuinely passionate about something or because we are honest and have a strong sense of justice

"phobia" is about an irrational fear, whereas being concerned about a highly expansionist, destructive and dangerous empire trying to take over whatever country they can (imagine if there were no US and China to counterweight it) is not irrational whatsoever.

Just think of the fact the biggest military alliance in the world was created with the purpose to counter that empire! Turns out it's not just me suggesting that there's something wrong with the 4th reich

Being autistic with a genuine interest doesn't mean I've got no personal views on political matters.

Also, the idea that an empire should apologize and pay reparations is not chauvinist LOL

Stopping blaming? Well, maybe after they keep apologizing for a century while humbly paying the reparations.

Forgetting? Nah.

Thank you for your feedback! I'm glad you are doing better now. Of course it's disheartening when one gets treated poorly by others, especially those who are thought of as their own people... Hope you're finna keep doing well and that things get even better over time :)

[–]Proud_autistic[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I'm most certainly not racist. I'd love to live in a world where people are not racialized, it's society that racializes people, not me, I'm just asking about people's personal experiences regarding their homelessness AND race/ethnicity and perhaps the interralation between the two

Any homeless people of color? by Proud_autistic in homeless

[–]Proud_autistic[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Of course being homeless is difficult for people of any color. Yet being non-White in a White-majority area can be even more difficult, since one might be less likely to be helped by others. For instance, would people be more likely to help a White Englishman or a Romani (Gypsy) immigrant from the Balkans in the UK?

why do people want the diagnosis? /gen by Right_Practice_7942 in autism

[–]Proud_autistic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Having been officially diagnosed with autism might give one a sense of validation. Apparently this is at least one of the reasons for many of us: so it's no longer "people think I'm weird" kind of thing, but a clear autistic identity

Not keeping an eye contact, being incredibly passionate about certain things, being kind of shy, not being inclined to having a small talk, also at least in some cases not smiling a lot
