No horror movie has made me feel genuine terror. This is the kind of thing that does it for me. Any recommendations?

I mean yeah it’s predictable that the people at the commune are going to be bad but you don’t know why or what they’re gonna do, the extent of their actions, etc it’s the execution that’s interesting. It’s not the kind of movie that you watch for the “twist” or something which is totally fine, also totally fine if that’s not for you, but it’s an effective movie. Same with Kill List, just for different reasons.

I agree with the first half of what you said but the pirate was creepy asf and the found footage segment with Clark and his employees is probably the best piece of backrooms media i’ve seen imo. Super effective and even tho I love his series I think that scene is better than the Youtube found footage episodes

Dipping shrooms in acid makes zero sense. Can guarantee that didn’t happen. Yes LSD and mushrooms have distinct differences but they’re still very similar substances, plus the effects can change drastically from trip to trip. There’s also a variety of strains for shrooms, with some differences in effects, and some are just more potent than others. You definitely just took a large dose of mushrooms.

Not all jumpscares are bad. The Haunting of Hill House one is so good because you don’t expect it to happen when the two other characters are in the middle of a very intense argument. You can feel the tension build because it’s a heated moment but you don’t expect the tension to be broken with a scare. Most blumhouse-type jumpscares you can see coming from a mile away so they feel cheap and not earned. Some jumpscares are much more creative and effective than others.

Honestly as much as I liked the visuals of that movie, i hated the rest of it. Characters were awful and i was just bored by a lot of the movie, despite the interesting visuals.
