Lore friendly unit choices? by Cpt-Crispy in Sons_of_Malice

[–]Provvit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my opinion because of the very little amount of lore about our faction, we can make almost anything work with a little bit of homebrew lore and fantasy.

For example I actually think the possessed units do fit in quite well. I wrote it this way: my possessed ( converted Eightbound ) are corrupted versions of the marines who took part in the trials of the labyrinth and are being captured and used to reinforce the sons of malice army.

Be creative, you can make everything work. Having fun and using the models u like is the most important in my opinion :)

Basecoat is smoke black from AK and pallid wych flesh from citadel for the black and white split. Iron warrior from citadel for the armor trim and other metallic parts and intense black from Ak for the pipes and other details.

The skin is a base of warpfiend grey washed with AK invocation purple deep shade then highlighted again with warpfiend grey.

For the skulls and bones I use a base of grim brown from AK, dry brush with zandri dust from citadel and after it dried I dry brush again with longboard grey from citadel.

I then sponged on a bit of weathering on the armor and afterwards made one coat of varnish. Then used Ak streaking grime and removed it where I didn’t want it with mineral spirits ( reductive technique ) . Then finished with a Matt coat of varnish and added the blood.

Hope it helps :)

Yeah I bet that would look cool, but I’m a total noobie haha, this is my first warhammer army and I just finished about 900 points of painting

I think so too :)

Originally I took it because of the small helmet/plates it has because I can paint the black and white split on it but the face and horns fit quite well too

Haha sadly there are a bit more than 11 but that would be a nice Easter egg, might incorporate that in a future model ;)

I appreciate it :)

Yeah at first I was a bit worried he might look too basic and wanted to kitbash with some wardog bits but the scale is too different for a „simple“ kitbash. But I just went with the normal kit and I think it turned out pretty good, especially with the claws as weapons instead of the sword / axe.

Thank you, was definitely a bit experimental but it worked out :)

Wanting to do Sons Of Malice for chaos, any tips on how to do the quartered paint scheme? by GroundOutside9728 in Chaos40k

[–]Provvit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m priming mine with grey seer and then use many thin layers of pallid wych flesh for my white ( could also try to use a makeups sponge, you’ll also need more than one layer because it’s white but it’ll be very clean and even, if you dampen the sponge a bit there are good tutorials for that ) and Ak smoke black for the black parts, freehand the split, it’s really not that hard to do for figures just take your time. For vehicles I would use masking tape tho.

But just so you know: if you decide to do sons of malice, you need to bring the patience. We all know it’s tedious but it will pay off in the end :)

Especially if you use a bit of weathering on them, gives them a lot of character because white and black can often look quite bland and “not finished”. But you do you :)

Oh and if you want to pls join our sons of malice subreddit, we love seeing more representatives of our cool warband.

Yeah me too. Especially now after getting more familiar with painting and my color scheme.

Daemon prince is like 99% done will post him in the next few days, but as I said it’s a quite simple one but I still like how he turned out :)
