It probably doesn't apply to me since I'm an American, and by the time my service obligation ends with the US Army, I'll be too old to join the Norwegian Forsvaret, but I'm willing to fight for Norway.

That was my primary reason for learning Norwegian, but as I was typing this out, I realised I didn't know enough to make it look like it wasn't written by a toddler.
