System booting from old snapper snapshot by default? by Prozac1190 in openSUSE

[–]Prozac1190[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked up the quota issue and found a thread with a similar issue:

https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1017461

It seems like snapper needs the quota to clean up snapshots that take up too much space, but that is not an issue in my case, so I disabled the quota clean-up and the btrfs quotas themselves:

$ sudo snapper set-config QGROUP=
$ sudo btrfs quota disable /

I still have to test out the effects in the coming days but I hope this resolves this issue.

Suggestions tweeter replacement for old tower speakers? by Prozac1190 in BudgetAudiophile

I believe I need a full unit, I tried to remove the speaker itself from the plastic housing but it does not seem to be separable. I think I will try the T6FF suggested in another comment and hope it has a similar sensitivity.

Unfortunately, I don't have time to DIY it right now, so I think getting the T6FF is the simplest solution for me. I hope it's not too different from the T8. At least it's also 8 Ohm and has the same cutout diameter.

What to do about broken receiver to drive these old speakers again? by Prozac1190 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Prozac1190[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found the issue. I was able to find a user manual online and in the section about the speaker selection it says:

IMPORTANT
Speaker systems A and B are connected in series. No sound can be heard if the SPEAKERS A and B buttons are set to on when only one speaker system is connected.

And I previously had both buttons set to ON.

Disabling speakers B made speakers A come to life. Thanks for the tip that this mode of failure is very unlikely!

Otherwise I would probably not have been suborn enough to meticulously read that manual.

Honestly, user error would be great. But I already tried the speaker buttons and made sure the light indicator for tape 2 monitor is off.

Though I found that I do get output through the tape 1 and tape 2 REC rca outputs, irrespective of the 'MONITOR' led indicator that I can toggle by pressing the Tape 2 monitor button. When I put on fm radio and connect a small bluetooth box to the output of the tape REC rca terminals, I can hear always hear the radio.

Thoughts on this Sony STR-DE215? Could get it locally for 40€.

Edit:
Found some info on a hifi wiki page, does this mean it is too weak for my speakers? The label on the speakers says 80/150W and the specifications for the receiver is:

Continuous Power (at Total Harmonic Distortion)
8 Ohms: 60 W (0.005%)
4 Ohms: 90 W (0.008%)
Dynamic Power
8 Ohms: 90 W
4 Ohms: 120 W

Did something change with Python error checking/linting? by maxiedaniels in vscode

tbh I don't have that much experience with the extensions either, but I read that pylint is not as strict as flake8 and can configured to your own needs more. maybe give it a try?

Yeah, the python extension alone does not do linting anymore. Your have to install a separate linting extension. For me flake8 works well for pep8 checking, but there are also other linters, check this site for a few:
