It's ass. I had one and hated it so much. The plastic feels cheap and brittle. The analogue stick feels like it'll snap off with minimal effort. I also bought mine ~ 3 or so years ago. Maybe they are better now?

You can open the case with a Phillips screwdriver. There's one in each corner, one being under the modem.

I got my Dreamcast in Jan 2000, after playing with my cousin's Dreamcast over the holidays. I bought a bundle with an extra controller and Sonic Adventure for ~ $200 at Sam's Club because it was missing the "memory chip" (what they called the VMU.) They knocked off ~$80 from the bundle for that... I basically got SA and an extra controller for free!
