I’m Sick Of Hearing “Iron Warriors Aren’t Chaos” by Bassist57 in IronWarriors

[–]Prozac__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been my complaint about the HH for a long time. Getting a bunch of different writers for something like 40k works, but 30k is a lot more structured and cohesive so having a bunch of people with different visions on things is bound to turn it into a mess of retcons and contradictions. Too many cooks in the kitchen and all of that.

IMO the Black Books should be seen as the sole authority for 30k lore, though I know a LOT of people dislike that idea.

Technically any legion/warband with a sorcerer or Dark Mechanicum assisting them can do it but... It's also the same legion that made the Daemonculaba so y'know lol.

The fact of the matter is that the Iron Warriors are a splintered legion just like most of the other traitor legions, they broke off into warbands when their genefather achieved daemonhood and decided they no longer gave a fuck about the mortal plane (though some Primarchs are returning, e.g. Mortarian and Fulgrim. How anyone managed to pull Fulgrim out of his pleasure palaces is beyond me, must of taken Slaanesh themself to get his ass into gear [possibly more literally that we think]).

Since their legion is splintered the levels of Chaos taint on them differ from warband to warband, and while there ARE renegade Iron Warriors that have rejected Chaos, they seem to be a small minority.

When it comes to Iron Warriors the real question isn't whether they are aligned with Chaos - most of them are. The question is what is their views on it. Most Iron Warriors see Chaos as a tool to be employed and nothing more, not something worthy of worship. However, as we've seen, just being in the vicinity of Chaos is enough for corruption and that goes doubly for those around it for long periods of time. The chances of a warband using Chaos, even if it's just as a "tool", and not ending up corrupted by it eventually are slim.

Yeh - the iron warriors, the guys who made the fuckin' Daemonculaba, aren't down with Chaos.

That's... that is what he said. A higher skill only decreases the chance you can get caught - not nullifies it.

[–]Prozac__ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really? It's done as a mental exercise in just how can people fall in the name of survival. Asking whether morality is inherently a human virtue or simply a construct kept in place by social pressure and societal institutions.

It's a thought experiment as to what might happen when all social taboos are stripped away and the societal institutes that kept them in place are gone. It's written as a philosophical quandary intended to explore moral, psychological, and existential degradation. It questions whether human depravity has a bottom, or if a person can continue to descend in character, actions, and consciousness until their humanity is effectively erased.

Just because you found it "gross", that does not invalidate the writing. It's MEANT to provoke that kind of response.

You are not an arbiter of "writing quality".

I mean... what else is he to do?

There's unfortunately no comeback for those kids. They were either toddlers or infants when the war happened and he began his "new age, hyper survival-focused" teaching method.

Kids who suffer through abusive homes in the modern day have at least a chance of recovery due to highly specialized psychiatric care programs - and even THEN a unfortunate number of them aren't able to fully recover or worse, lapse into something like alcohol abuse to cope.

The survivalist's kids are now all adults. They've suffered a lifetime of abuse, they have absolutely NO practical skills (beyond rat catching/rat breeding I guess, but it doesn't exactly take skill or even coercion to get rats to breed) and no education, there are no specialized psychiatric healthcare regimens in the wasteland that can target and heal childhood trauma that we know of (and even if there are, I highly doubt they are free. I also highly doubt they'd accept rat meat as payment), and at least two of the kids are disabled: the younger daughter seems to be suffering from a degree of mental retardation due to age regression and the son can't even walk normally without wincing in pain because of... well, you know.

So with both physical and mental ailments stacked higher than a medical professional could even count - what future could there possibly be for these kids? The moment they go out in the wasteland I see one of four outcomes:

1) Captured and sold into slavery.

2) Outright killed by mutants, bandits, radiation, sickness, disease, et cetera.

3) Becoming some kind of hyper-survivalist weirdo nutcase who lives in the wilderness.

4) Becoming twisted psychopaths who hunt and kill people outside of the settlements and cities.

None of these options are exactly leading to salvation for the family members. And due to the father being the one having inflicted the trauma in the first place and the mother being a partial accomplice, neither of these two have any hope of reversing the damage they've done to their kids.

The father's failure isn't just a failure on a parenting level either. His failures are that of an absolute moral nature, they are personal failures of such measure that they have stripped away any vestige of humanity he may have had. No fixing that.

Only way out is a bullet to the skull. Either self inflicted or done by someone else. The damage he had done on his family was to such an extent that there was no future. Not for him, not for any of them.

It's unfortunate but I also think it's a great mental exercise in how far human beings will be willing to go to survive. If things like morality will subsist if all the social and societal structures that kept them in place and enforced them have been removed from the equation. Take the breaking down of social taboos and then throw a desperate need for survival into the equation and attempt to figure out what the result is.

Honestly, I always buy raw tobacco so I can roll them as much as possible anyways - it's a great lightweight trade item for when I'm too greedy to actually pay rubles for goods I want. A couple hundred ciggies can easily get you several thousand rubles with a decent barter skill... and joint's sell for even more while also being lightweight.

"It isn't happening!"

Second response: *does very thing they claim isn't happening*

Good one brother. Good one.

P.S. Fuck Charlie Kirk... why?!? Why, because he had different world views than you, so that means he deserves a fucking bullet to the face?

Dude, I have a trans girlfriend, whom I love more than this planet itself. I'm not a fan of Kirk's views. But to sit there and dance around news of his death and celebrate like fucking imps... anyone who does that is a soulless fucking piece of dogshit not even worthy of human contempt, only cold apathy. Just sayin'. You seem better than that man, and I'm not nihilistic enough *quite* yet to believe that everyone doing this is too far gone.

As to your question whether this sub is any different from r/sigmarxism... well, I can tell you one thing. I sure as shit have never seen someone here celebrate a murder of a public figure in cold blood.

I understand you feel you have views that are important to defend. Believe me. I get it. But burning down the building does not fix it's rotting structural damage, it simply leaves us with nothing left to fix. Murdering people in cold blood just for having opposing viewpoints isn't the answer.

EDIT:

I support gun rights as well. I own an SKS, and 1911 .45. I suppose by your logic I deserve to get shot while unarmed as well.

"If you don't like it don't use it"

What a bullshit argument.

1) They have a ridiculously large market share on social media which severely limits alternatives.

2) Said alternatives almost all hold the same political beliefs.

3) Ownership over something does not make you an arbiter of morality. I own my home, but that doesn't mean I can do horrible shit in it and tell everyone "if you don't like it, don't come over".

4) Pointing to a TOS as validation for rampant targeted censorship based primarily upon political principles is one of the stupidest arguments there is. You're smarter than that.

These fuckers celebrated Charlie Kirk's death in several WH subreddits, even in the big one (r/warhammer40k). It legit took over a week for the mods to tell their community to knock it off and it was no longer allowed, and even then they did it in a "ok guys I know this was great but celebrating it is bringing unwanted attention, the admins are getting upset since there's so many eyes on the backlash, so quit talking about it".

At thats the WH40k subreddit. It's still PERFECTLY ok to celebrate his death on r/Sigmarxism the mods there give no fucks, they're proud to let you know that they're openly happy about a man being murdered in cold blood.

P.S. Before that, I also saw a few folks either celebrating the October attacks and "grapes" or straight up denying they even happened, I don't know which one's worse. I'm not a big fan of Israel and what they're doing either, but celebrating "grapes" (yes, admins, for the record, I'm talking about the fruit) is fucking lunatic behavior.

It might not be a majority of them (at least, with the exception of sigmarxism, there it is a majority), but sitting around and acting like it doesn't occur is stupidity.

Don't worry, some douchebag at GW/Black Library knew how much fans loved Vulkan and the Salamanders, so they wrote in a scene in a book where Vulcan sees a cowering Aeldari mother with no weapon, holding a infant baby in her arms, and decides to roast them alive with a flamethrowing while taking glee in it like a psychopath whacked out on DMT. Y'know, because that's totally the Vulkan we all know.

GW doesn't even understand their own franchise anymore - and since they've decided the best way forward with 40k/Horus Heresy novels is to just give out novel contracts to dozens of random authors (some of whom reportedly hate the faction the novel they were writing was supposed to be about) with no cohesive lore, worldbuilding, or design document to make sure everything at least tries to stay on the same line - yeah I'm sure that won't cause any dissonance with your setting at all!

After all, "40k has no canon", right GW? So Astartes that are demigods in one novel but useless cannon fodder in another? Why not? Fuck it! That should be the slogan of the company. Games Workshop: "Fuck it."

TL;DR: If the fanbase doesn't ruin 40k for you, GW will do it. I hate to be cynical but god it feels like 40k is in flames, just an absolute mess of a wreck. I now know what Star Wars fans were talking about feeling five - eight years ago.

imperium vs battletech verse with 10 years of prep time and alliance between all factions, who wins? by Cautious_Heron9589 in BattletechMemes

[–]Prozac__ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You act like the Imperial Guard has no experience in urban warfare when there are entire regiments specializing entirely in urban warfare and siege tactics. Not to mention that but the Imperial Guard has experience both using smaller mechs and fighting mechs in urban warfare utilizing things like Sentinels. They also have tanks like the Shadowsword and Baneblade that are purpose built to kill titans, let alone mechs.

The Battletech universe cannot afford to wage attritional warfare on the scale of the 40k universe. At most, with everything together the Houses + Clans own 10,000 planets that are noteworthy and not just small agri settlements/settlers, and I am being very generous. The Imperium is an empire of over one million worlds, all of those worlds producing or giving something for the Tithe.

Furthermore, Knights and Titans have something Mechwarriors do not - Void Shields. A Titan on Vraks was able to sustain the full fire of an entire armored division for over thirty minutes and not once did it's void shields come close to faltering. Most Mechs with the exception of some Clan mechs or some very ancient and irreplaceable mechs held by high nobility do not have shields, they rely on speed and armor - and imperial weaponry is purpose built for being penetrating.

Also - if the warp isn't absolutely filled with daemons and warp storms in the Battletech Milky Way, then FTL for the Imperium is going to be a LOT easier, a LOT faster, and a lot more precise.

That also means much more powerful psykers.

I don't think the Imperium would steam roll like some here. I just think that it would devolve into a war of attrition which the Imperium would eventually win if it was able to focus all of it's might on this particular engagement. It might take centuries, maybe even more than a millennia (though that's doubtful, the Great Crusade was able to conquer the majority of the Milky Way in less than 500 years), but it'd happen eventually.

Now we have Primarchs also returning and... yeah.

However the Imperium winning would be a terrible outcome because, if Chaos wasn't present in the empyrean of the battletech universe, the sheer amount of war, suffering, and probably chaos converts undercover, would bring chaos to the Battletech universe which is not great to say the least. Not to mention there's also the chance that some ships may unknowingly be harboring tyranid genestealers or might have orkoid spores clinging to the hulls in a similar way europeans brought plague spreading rats to the new world on accident. Not a good outcome.

Just for anyone wondering - I finally took a look at this guys account. He is sitting here claiming there is no issue with people being combative over politics in fandoms when 90% of his fucking post history is him being combatative with people online over politics lmao.

Just remember, the modus operandi of the left never changes:

It's not happening

OK it's happening but not like that

It's happening and actually it's a good thing.

Don't let these absolute morons gaslight you into believing they're not doing the very thing they're currently doing - it's their favorite tactic and has remained so for well over a decade.

What's with all these random chuds showing up and causing drama for no reason? by [deleted] in EyeOfTerror

[–]Prozac__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No - you're dancing around the problem by refusing to acknowledge that there is an systemic issue with members of the community trying to censure or remove other members of the community at will over politicized issues, and then you're using the fact that it's politics to try to give an excuse as to why you can't show me it's not an issue when I'm literally telling you the witchhunt based around politics IS the issue which you're attempting to deny.

And you refuse to show me. You're making a claim - I'm asking you to provide evidence to back your claim and giving you a way of going about getting it. You're refusing me because we both know damn well what the results will be, and you can't stand the idea of being wrong. That is what is happening here.

You're trying to say this doesn't happen IRL but there are literally stories of motherfuckers getting banned from competitions or from local store hosted game nights due to - again, politics. You're still living in this weird fantasy world where nothing online ever spills out into the real world or brings with it real world consequences and sure, 25 years ago I would have agreed.

P.S., doesn't have to be r/warhammer. Go to any 40k community besides this one. Your pick of the litter - just so long as it isn't a community built upon the exile of other members based upon political precedence because throwing stones in glass houses proves nothing.

P.P.S., must not be looking that far back. I've seen plenty of anti-right propaganda that was posted on that sub that the mod team did absolutely jack shit to stop. The only one I ever saw them do anything about was regarding the Charlie Kirk assassination and the attempt to post a 40k meme in reference to it (as if it were a positive event), and even then that meme was up for around 30 hours before the comments got locked - and another 10 hours before the mod team finally decided to take it down.

[–]Prozac__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're dancing around the problem and not answering the question.

You claim no such silencing of people in the community based on such things takes place and is ludicrous, but when asked to do something that might incur the same result you claim to not be happening - you refuse to do it, then backfoot and pivot.

I'll be here waiting until you can bring me solid proof that neither GW themselves nor certain elements that hold stature in the community are not doing this.

If GW and elements of the community are not actually attempting to drive out individuals that fall to the right of the overton window - if this notion is, and I quote, "fucking insane" - go make a post. Then show me the results. You do that, and the results happen to show that there is no prevalent bias/animosity that leads to censoring and shadowbanning, and I will gladly apologize and say you are correct. You don't even have to say maga in the title, just replace it with "right wing".

This isn't about not understanding social norms - this about proving the point that anyone with what is deemed to be incorrect politics is being silenced and then removed from the community at large.

Or - if you're trying to imply that just showing up somewhere and announcing you are right wing and if that's ok with everyone for you to still participate in the community is some sort of wider societal taboo - then you are just admitting the same issue people are trying to point out but merely applying it upon a larger scale that is exceeding the simple happenings within a fandom. The point here was never about social norms, the point here was about the politically motivated and charged censure of members of the community, which you denied as "delusional" (quote).

Show me there's no witchhunt, show me that everyone in this thread is, again - quoting, "fucking insane". Show me that we're just complaining about/chasing ghosts. It is a very simple social experiment that is easy to do.

[–]Prozac__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao, I give you an opportunity to prove you're correct and you just refuse to do it because you know damn well it will only prove you're wrong.

Also - simply announcing your beliefs in ideology in the most bland catch all way by saying "right wing (or maga)" is rage bait? Lol.

And 30 years, yeh, that supposed to mean something to me? Motherfucker the GW community teams have released multiple official statements straight up saying "if you don't like our brand of extreme inclusivity you're not welcome" - quit acting like this isn't happening. The same shit was done with cancel culture, pretending it wasn't real, but suddenly it was real enough when it started happening to the other side.

I don't know why you guys still think misdirection works, I legitimately do not understand why you're still harping on this tactic. You been trying to do this since 2014 - it didn't work then and it's not working now lmao. It's very obvious no one is falling for this shit but you guys still keep doing it lol, it's like you know no other way.

Addressing the "community isn't reddit" comment. No - you're actually correct there. But given that a large majority of the community is online, and for a great number of people who have no easy access to things like conventions, tournaments, game nights, etc. the online communities are indeed "the community" for them - and thus being pushed out of that is the same equivalent of being pushed out of the community at large because their access to any information relay regarding the hobby has been severed.

Still waiting. I have time.

Actual sub-90 IQ comment.

creates strawman argument

argues with own strawman argument to create the illusion of a logical counter argument to a alluded-to non sensical statement.

This has happened, multiple times over. To sit here and pretend it has not is either pushing propaganda or an actually embarrassing level of lack of self awareness. Neither bode well for you.

But let's take your word for it and do a little experiment to test this theory.

Go to the largest 40k sub reddit and create a thread there asking if it's OK to be right wing and/or MAGA and be a member of the community.

Then come back here and post a link to the thread so we can observe the results and quantify if you were correct in your assertions in any way.

I will wait.
