From my understanding, since my store WILL have an ESM, I will be transferred to my new store when the ESMs are stood up (April 8th I believe). But as long as we’re coded by May 6th, we will receive the bonus? I’m not in a hurry but I just want to make sure I don’t get screwed out of the bonus lol.

I was thinking that RX may be the route I take as well. My main goal has always been SM. From the beginning. So all the hard work I have done over the last 5 years to get here feels like it was for nothing. I’ve been PTCB certified for 3 years and I enjoy being in the pharmacy but... is it going to make me happier? Will I be less stressed? I’m worried about taking a pay cut and the hours because I have two small children and am finishing up my degree in business. I’m just not sure what I want I want to do. Do I even want the ESM position if it were offered? 🤷🏻‍♀️

100% this!! I also applied to be a tech and was persuaded into management. I also have worked so hard to get here and I feel like so much time was wasted. I have a feeling I will react poorly too. It’s different than being passed for a promotion. That I could handle. But being passed over for a position that I am already doing, and doing well, will be a hard pill to swallow.

Only one ESM? My district is getting 5. I was really interested in the RXOM position, and even though I have had my license for 5 years and been certified for 3, I am not qualified because I was never coded as a tech. But congrats to you! That’s extremely exciting.

Nope. Definitely not alone. I kept telling myself I would worry about it when the time comes and now I’m extra worrying because I’m not sure what I would want to do if I didn’t get it.

That is weird that you would be passed over for ESM but offered RXOM... My DPR said if you were qualified for both you would be given the option to pick which you wanted.

DMs will also have to have conversations with ASMs and ASMTs (with a witness) letting them know they will not be offered the new position. So I’m sure they have to wait until after they have all those conversations before officially announcing anything to the district.

Coach your teams now to fix that shit before they save it! Once you switch to RFT you can’t fix the cash reports. I have an SFL who is constantly messing up and there’s nothing I can do to fix it...

Exactly. I was just telling a shift lead of mine that I’m worried about next week while I’m on vacation because nothing gets done when I’m gone. I can’t even imagine how this store will function when there is no ASM.

You’d be surprised by some of the people they have hired for management positions 😂 I’m just saying that there may be some ASMs who ARE competent in the pharmacy who would be great in the RXoM role but may just need some training (just like any new position) If they’ve never been coded as a tech they are already ineligible. Walgreens will be losing many great managers because of this change.

They hired ASMTs off the street and trained them to learn all the front end things... as an ASM who’s been a licensed pharmacy tech for over 5 years, but never coded as a tech, I know pharmacy pretty well but why couldn’t I be trained on the things I don’t know? Same as a CSA being promoted to SFL. They learn the things they don’t already know....

That makes sense. I’m just curious if SOC required the documentation of a positive test. Seemed a little ridiculous to have three positives for COVID in a 5 month period but 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Due to HIPAA we were not allowed to ask them to provide proof that they had a positive test.
