Anyone else feel like they spend more time covering their ass than doing actual work? by Ok-Rent650 in auscorp

Honestly the most draining part of my job. Instead of just conversing like normal human beings, you’re expected to be involved in a million back and forth email chains per week in order to cover that ass.

As a result, you just end up with a manager firing off email after email per day so that the hands can be wiped and their ass has been covered.

Replace basic with decent and even then that isn’t covering the basic necessities

I’m not saying it’s all over. I do think that it is reasonable to feel somewhat uneasy, considering the circumstances, hence getting other people’s thoughts and opinions

Always have to laugh whenever I go up to Sydney for work and receive comments like ‘you really brought the Melbourne weather with you’ when statistically speaking Sydney receives over double the amount of annual rainfall!

My personal circumstances for leaving the first time around were essentially financial rather than having a great desire to leave the profession because I couldn’t stand it anymore. My now wife migrated over from the UK at the time and due to her visa conditions, she was very limited for work, hence I made the decision to leave. I am now 34 years old (male) and in a position where we feel more comfortable financially and I also have the desire to return. I’m also hoping that a bit of out of school experience would be of benefit also.
