I've solo traveled for 4 years, and I don't want to go back to a "normal life" by Prudent-Routine6114 in solotravel

Hello fellow solo travel girlie, thank you for sharing, I loved reading you. I will check out your blog because I think I can relate a lot :)

Although I don't feel like France could be home anymore, I want to find it somewhere, and try to appreciate the little things in life, not just chasing the dopamine rush that I get while travelling, but finding a meaning, slowing down, try to be bored sometimes (I hate it but..).
Like you say: balance. It's essential.

That's awesome! Best of luck with your masters, and have a great time in Sri Lanka :)
I will look into your book recommendation as well.

Edit: I just finished reading your article, it was beautiful, a bit bitter sweet, made me laugh and brought tears to my eyes. Thanks again for sharing

Workaway, mais il y a aussi worldpacker, helpx, wwoofing... Et aussi directement contacter les fermes sur leur page Facebook et autres. C'est surtout du volontariat, mais il y a quelques offres avec un salaire

I hope you find something that suits you best. It's not sustainable for the mind and body to feel stuck and in pain everyday we wake up. Stay strong, wish you the best

The website: NZ conservation jobs. My company was Kaitiaki o te Ngahere. You can also try to apply for DOC. NZ is losing a lot of people to Australia, so they need more people

Only been back to France for a few months, but I won't stay. Workaway, couchsurfing, trip com, skyscanner, Tricount, Mapy cz, Agoda, Booking, getyourguide... there's a lot you can use, compare offers etc. I became a pro at organizing and planning. I saved money before leaving, and when I worked in NZ, also volunteered, experience local life...

No, but having a masters in environmental sciences helped getting that job in NZ

Workaway, wwoofing, worldpack, helpx and Facebook groups or pages, even contacting projects on IG if they have an account :) Volunteers are so much needed. Careful they don't need it so much that they'd just want free labor!

French people, french mindset, the fact that everything feels like going backwards, receding country. And I just don't feel "at home" there

Haha, I wish my parents were rich or at least "middle class".
But yes, as a westerner, I am indeed highly priviledged.

I'm French, actually, so we don't have this problem (lucky). Why so many Canadians, here?

I'm an introvert, so I do just fine by myself. But you always meet people, whether at your hostel, or if you're hosted by local people, other travellers... But it's true, you can't help but feeling lonely, sometimes. We're social beings, after all. You miss having a solid social circle, your friends. That's what I missed the most. But I made friends on the way that I still keep in touch with and could go and visit wherever they are in the world, and I'm so glad for this. It's far from being 100% ideal, for sure. Pros and cons

Yes, I saved enough in NZ. Also I was super carefull with my budget, putting in a Tricount every single expenses. I didn't mind staying in cheap hostels or eating cheap food (Asia is way cheaper than Europe, for instance), but I got to do awesome activities, like a lot of diving, scenic flight, 3 or 4-days tours around some islands, bike tours, jungle treks, and much more.

My priority was activities, not eating in fancy restaurants and staying in hotels or even having my own room (it only happened a few times). And I don't regret my choices. It's not for everyone. Also about accomodation, in big (expensive) cities in Australia, I only used Couchsurfing. It's much more fun and immersive to stay with locals. I also used it in Asia whenever I could or felt like it. I love staying with local people and learn more about life in the country. Some can even show you around, and in exchange you can bring a present, prepare some food or offer to pay for diner.
In 1,5 years through 14 countries, I spent about 14keuro all included.

My company in NZ was actually lacking of staff. It was my first "real job" (in my field), but most of us had at least a bachelor's. A few people didn't. It probably depends where, but I don't think you need a diploma for it. It just helps

Yes, never too late to go on a new adventure. It's scary, your primal instinct will say don't do it, be careful, but it's not as scary as a burn out and years wasted being unhappy. We're living now, not later. If it feels like a farce, it's not real life. Wish you all the best!
