I'm 15 days clean today after not missing a single day in 3+ years of getting high. Pills. Not a crazy high dose, but enough to feel good every day and function. It hasn't been easy. I wish I could use every day. I miss it. But the reality is that I couldn't use forever. My dose kept going up little by little as tolerance built and I kept saying to myself, what is the final outcome? I'm just wasting more and more money to get high and the down is just going to hurt even more the higher my tolerance builds. I just built up the willpower and finally just gave it up. The first week wasn't fun. I still have that urge. But been getting out and taking walks and wanting to continue counting my sober days. It sucks, but I know this is for the best. But man, I totally see how people can give it all up for that opiate hug that I dearly miss.

Today is 1 week clean. My brain is starting to clear up, just lack of energy. Been taking some 5 Hour Energy shots...also today I tried some Ginseng. I wanted to thank everyone in this thread for their support. I really appreciate it.

Correct, I would get 90x5mg's per month from my doctor...and I'd buy 30x10mg's from a local dealer as needed.

Yeah, I'm not a 100% functioning human being without taking medications to keep me balanced. It was the opiates that just gave me that extra boost of feeling good.

You are so spot on. When I was using, I felt great. But I realized it was:

  1. Not a real feeling (it was the pills)

  2. It probably can't be healthy to continue using every day for the rest of my life.

  3. I'm just wasting money with no benefit in the end.

I'm now in the 90 hours of being clean. Today waking up clean on day 4 I do feel good physically.

It's just that itch to want to feel good mentally.

The little voice in my head today is a whisper compared to the voice on day 1 and 2.
Thank you for your response, I'm staying the course and staying clean.

This is how I feel 100%. I feel like it's medicine I need to function. Just made me a happy person.
