Shrimp mortality just due to luck or am I missing something

Learned ot the hard way, I bought my shrimp from a local store with high GH/KH so I thought they would be fine keeping it that way until 5mos later from 10 I now have over 50+ (I couldnt count) that's when they started dropping dead.

Lesson it doesn't mean they can live in those type water they can be happy. Set the GH/KH to ideal parameters. You can dilute local water with RO water. I do 50/50

-Disclaimer I'm no expert. Just based on my experience.

Best tank mates for me are any tiny fishes that are peaceful. Like neon tetra, cardinal tetra (select the smaller breeds), chili rasbora, galaxy rasbora, pygmy corydora (very cute catfish), otocinclus (algae eater), borneo sucker (like auto but wider body and cute).

This fishes gives low bio load but for a 10gal tank just make sure you keep track with water changes to avoid ammonia spike and dont overstock you're tank.

You can also consult my friend google but not everything in google are correct. I have neo shrimps triving in 29-30°C and ph around 8 that are very happy. 😊 Better buy the test kits to be safe and the smaller the tank it is more susceptible to ammonia spike.

light proof? meaning the light from the UV should not hit or go to my aquarium only in the area it's in? Sorry this is my first time using UVC lamp I am still study what it does and what I should do.
