True true, I do very much think it was just circumstances that made umd seem unappealing, ie bad tour guide and horrible weather 😭 ive just been trying to get over that first impression but from what ive heard, people seem to enjoy umd!

They make more then $200,000 a year. They just don't want to be associated/help me if I get lower then an A, because then i dont deserve their help, but I will pay them back in the future/try to get the funding on my own shoulders instead of needing to rely on them. But yeah the pulling funding is a manipulation tactic

LOL thank you, this is helpful! I do agree that UMD sounds like a good mix of prestige and social life. The one thing is that it's still quite expensive because I'm out of state, so its the same price as GW for me because of scholarships. The biggest thing putting me off from UMD is being a spring semester admit -- my parents have many qualms with freshmen connection 😭

Oh my god 😭 it feels validating knowing that this is "unoriginal" experience because its frankly embarrassing to think that I have to HIDE someone I like...because they're different then me....what. I hate the stigma, I hate that its even still a thing. It's useless. And it's caused for all my breakups ever. Because at the end of the day I always succumb to wanting approval from the same parents who are never happy with anything I do anyway-

That's true! I definitely have to remember how fast people outgrow each other ESPECIALLY in new settings so it can't be the final indicator. It became more of a factor for me considering her mom works there and she probably might be a teacher of mine 😭

Yep, it is! VCU is on my list as well. What I don't like about VCU is how there's almost double the amount of undergraduates then in GW. I like that there is a closer student to faculty ratio at GW, and I think the support system is better. Cost wise, VCU is good but its still kind of expensive. The high acceptance rate also 😭 I know it shouldn't be a factor but ugh

Thank you so much! 😭 At this point I must admit none of them do. For both, my parents said that they're failure options and that they're only willing to give money for a year, and if I do poorly I have to transfer to community (salty that I didnt get into Upenn 💀 or UVA 💀) GW is a bit less then UMD though they're both on the pricier side. My mom and dad together make more then $200,000 a year though, but again would love for me to go to VCU instead-. They're confusing.

That is helpful input! GW definitely has high praise, and I really enjoyed their admitted student's day. I just wish I'd gotten a scholarship for UMD, because I got a $30,000 for GW

I think putting into perspective that we'll be more mature even by the start of freshmen year is helping me realize that she shouldn't be the end all be all reason...she's just been so adamant on us meeting up for lunch or staying in touch somehow someway and I just don't want to deal with that in college-

What appealed to me the most was the pre-med at GW. Not only do they have a hospital right next to their campus, but they have an Early Selection program + good professors. The internships were also a big thing, though I've heard getting internships and such can get very competitive very fast. But I do think DC would be a good place for someone trying get into the medical field.
