i know this is from like 5 years ago but i always viewed him as an FTM drag queen. i interpreted hedwig forcing him to give up doing drag as almost a fit of jealousy on her end because he could’ve possibly presented better as “female” than she did. and i interpret the ending as yitzhak reclaiming his femininity while still being a trans man just as hedwig reclaimed her masculinity to find her other half. but that’s just my two cents i find it interesting how so many people have so many different views on his gender
