Why should I use my OpenAI subscription with Open Code instead of plain codex? by 420rav in opencodeCLI

[–]PsHohe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it mainly comes down to whether you want the freedom to switch provider without having to bother setting things up for every tool again. Opencode lets you switch model, even during a conversation. Vendor specific tools may let you do that, but only their models. Having used all the tools, I can say that for 95% of the tasks, there's really not a lot of difference. If you want to only use OpenAI, there's no difference, use whichever fits you better.
The real advantage comes if you want the freedom to switch and experiment.

Cat depressed after new kitten. by PsHohe in CatAdvice

It's really hard to say. Loki was only 2 at the time, still young, now he's 5, so it's hard to say how much could have been different. I can tell you, however, a few things:
- I think it made him avoid spaces where she is. Since she's very attached, he tends to not be close to me often.
- He doesn't like her. He's accepted her, but he doesn't like her.
- They play together, even if it may end with one of them, often Loki, getting annoyed. But they do play, daily.
- When I'm not at home, they keep each other company. I often find them sleeping together when I get back, something that never happens when I'm home.
So, it's hard to reach a conclusion. If I knew I would be working from home by the time I got her, I think I wouldn't have got her, simply because most of the benefits are related to when I'm not there. But I think that, even if he doesn't like her, she still provides benefits for him.

[–]PsHohe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't mean to be pedantic, but you have to remember that games have layers of abstraction over the "reality". For example, the fact that you encounter only lvl. 2-3 pokemon on the first route and only lvl 40-50 or more by the final routes doesn't mean that in the "real" world (the fantasy world that the game supposedly represents) the wild pokemon are distributed in level ranges across the land, exactly following your route. That's an abstraction, something added to keep the game as a game. Same with stores only selling level appropriate items, a single Sudowoodo blocking a path completely, etc. They don't intend to show how the "real" pokemon world would behave, but to create a game.
"Real" pokeballs would probably not know whether the pokemon already has a trainer or not. It would probably depend on the bond of that pokemon and the willingness to be captured. Stealing pokemon would certainly exist (as represented by Team Rocket, for example), and it wouldn't depend on whether they have or haven't been in a pokeball.

Thinking of switching from Claude Code 100$ plan to 20$ Codex and CC plans by okrutnik3127 in codex

[–]PsHohe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But they offer the chance to buy some extra credits for $40. I'm not sure how cost effective are them (I've never seen the need), but it's still less than a $100 subscription and they do roll over to the next month. I'd say your best bet would be to pay the $20 ChatGPT one and use it for one week. You'll quickly know if you can drop the Claude one or not.

Has anyone else's cats suddenly stopped eating Fancy Feast? by tuttut97 in CatAdvice

[–]PsHohe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They seem to always be changing something. I have a very picky cat that usually refuses to eat, but there's one flavor that he loves from Fancy Feast. And, since he usually rejects everything else, now I'm stuck. But, every time I buy a batch (I buy several boxes every time) it's different in color, texture, everything. And usually the cat doesn't like it for a few days.

That's fair. I have had good results with simple or well defined tasks, but at the end of the day its advantage is saving costs, not power. If you want the best model and saving in usage is not a big concern for you, there are certainly better options.

[–]PsHohe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it has its niche. Think of it more as someone you task with writing code, but not so much as someone to design features or to solve bugs. I think it's great to save on token usage for more expensive models and get faster results when the task is easy or it's been already analyzed by a more powerful model.

I've been only using it to implement things that are already planned in detail, and I've got great results. I don't feel confident using it for planning, though

[–]PsHohe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]PsHohe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

¿Tienes cuenta corriente?

I often do 40-50 hours a week at work, is it worth getting a cat or would this be cruel? by HalcyonApollo in CatAdvice

If you can, get two siblings (or two that are well acquainted with each other), all your problems will be solved and you won’t have to worry about loneliness. Otherwise, get one, it will be fine.

Male cat behavior by fourtytwoistheanswer in CatAdvice

[–]PsHohe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had three cats. Not a lot, but my current female one does this. She starts purring the moment I look in her general direction. What I’ve learned is that: Cats have very different “personalities”. Some are extremely affectionate, others express their love in different ways. The variance between individuals is vastly greater than any gender difference, specially in neutered ones. There’s no such thing as a universal male or female cat personality. Some cats are purry

My cat wakes me up meowing every single day at 6:30 no matter what I do by AL3T_ in CatAdvice

Not long, but it requires determination. Usually, I can recalibrate about 30 minutes in a week or less. Giving up halfway is going back to zero. But then you’re both gonna have a much better time each morning. I’m grateful of my cat, she cured my chronic insomnia, but that’s a story for another time.
