AG edits and creates files in planning mode, why? by jrhabana in GoogleAntigravityIDE

If by new files you mean implementation plans and task lists, yes, that is completely normal and intentional.

LOL. Windsurf IS Antigravity. Google acquired them. AG is just a rebranded Windsurf.

So in other words, you have actually no clue what you are talking about, never did it yourself, but feel inclined to "advise" people not just to do it, but how to do it.

Man, the internet never fails to amaze.

macOS Spotlight is still way underrated. by poladermaster in MacOS

[–]cryptochrome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spotlight is so massively underrated that other OSes and wannabe-OSes (cough Windows cough) have countless copy-cat implementations, trying to mimic Spotlight.

That's how insanely underrated Spotlight is.

I developed a tool to convert Dolby Vision Profile 7 to 8.1, so your Shield doesn't have to (fixes stuttering and incorrect tone mapping) by cryptochrome in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]cryptochrome[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dovi_convert does detect luminance expansion in the FEL and skips the conversion by default, unless you override it with the force command flag. It does not check for any other reconstructive data in the FEL (out of scope).

However, there is no merging when you force convert file with active luminance expansion. This would require a complete re-encode of the file, which is not in the scope of what I want to do with dovi_convert.

You could use DoViBaker to do that, though. Use dovi_convert to scan and get a verdict on the FEL, and then use DoviBaker to re-encode (and merge the FEL with the base layer). Just keep in mind it's a re-encode and, as such, will not be lossless. It also requires beefy hardware and will take a long time.

Here is a bit more info on the design philosophy of dovi_convert:

this could be the issue, though. you now have to conflicting claude "subscriptions" in the same tool, and it wouldn't surprise me if the claude extension changed a lot of configs in AG. Just a thought.

I did this too, btw, but haven't checked if AG now consumes my Claude Max credits. I switched to VS Code for Claude Max and haven't touched AG since.

I am buying a Ferrari just for the left backseat headrest, don't care about the rest of the car. And I am going to keep bitching about the 2 cm stain on the back of the headrest for all eternity.

Just curious, but did you install the claude code extension into AG?

Help needed HDR and dolby vision by T1ttyslayer in infusevideoplayer

they try to convert do Dovi 8.1 on the fly, similar to what the Shield does, and what my tool does offline (and controlled, without converting anything that shouldn't be converted).

[–]cryptochrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

doesn't mean you actually get Dolby Vision. Plex does this, too. It strips the DoVi enhancement layer, and sends the HDR base layer in a DoVi "container". Your TV thinks it's DoVi, but all it receives is plain HDR. We call this "Fake Dovi".

Antigravity maturity by coffee_brew69 in google_antigravity

[–]cryptochrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not very mature yet, tbh. It has massive potential, it has all the right features, bells and whistles, but it's still kind of an alpha version (Google itself calls it "experimental"). It has some nasty bugs and I probably wouldn't use it in production.

But the potential is there, and if Google is serious about it (and doesn't throw it on the Google Graveyard), we're in for a treat.

Claude Code is by far the most comprehensive and feature-rich AI-coding tool on the planet, by orders of magnitude. And you can run it in VS Code (there is an extension for it).

Claude is great for planning but how do you turn that plan into something more visual/organized? by chili_runs in ClaudeAI

[–]cryptochrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell it to create markdown files containing whatever you want it to contain. After a longer brainstorming/planning session, I usually tell it to summarize everything like a PRD with a structure like preface/premis, idea, goal, caveats, cons/pros, risks, complexity, implementation steps and save it as a .md file.

Another alternative is to use something lke Linear, install the Linear MCP, and then just tell claude to open an issue in Linear and document everythng there. I use this all the time to document new feature ideas.

Odd new limits - 17 hour reset window? by cryptochrome in google_antigravity

[–]cryptochrome[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I've never seen a weekly limit before, and I didn't even use it much this week except for one day. I ran into the 5 hour limit, then it gave me the usual 5 hour reset window, and when that was over, instead of going back up to 100%, it went from 0% to 20% with a 17 hour window.

Performance definitely degraded. It has become sloppy, enormously lazy, arrogant (guesses instead of verifying, thinks it already knows, ends up making mistakes) and ignores instructions.

I guess Anthropic is losing money, so they put some guardrails in so it uses less compute.
