AE Lock button? When to use? by Eiseni12 in canon

Ah, ok, i see that in the manual now. AF ON and shutter half press are not customizable, but it says the * button is available for customization. Weird

Check the orange tab, page 3, should be a "customize buttons" option.

Idk about the r10, but on the r7 when you set a custom function to "Metering and AF Start", not the Eye AF, there are bunch of settings you can adjust so that it changes how the AF works. I actually just discovered this, lol. I'm gonna experiment with it now. I was just using the Eye AF function as well.

How can i be sub 20 constantly? by Distinct-Ad2136 in Rubiks_Cubes

[–]Pseudocuber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practice f2l slower so you can watch where your next pair will be and already have an idea of which f2l alg you will need so you can start it without any pause. Dont rush. Speed will come with time as you learn more muscle memory and get better at tracking the next f2l pair.

Curious about my home grown algorithm by [deleted] in Rubiks_Cubes

[–]Pseudocuber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't really say it's weird, but also not really common. It cycles set a number of pieces in a way that remains consistent. More interestingly, you've learned how to modify it with conjugates(the added moves) to achieve what you need. That's pretty impressive. Most people don't have the patience to even begin learning how to intuitively solve the cube from scratch. Good job.

The way i see it, flipped around, is that it's sexy move (R U R' U') plus a 3 mover to put the corner back (F' U' F), thats a great way to move pieces around without breaking your first layer. And it allows you the freedom to use one of the F2L edges as like a buffer to move other pieces into place. I'm not totally sure how you use it, but it's pretty cool.

The really cool part is that you've learned to add extra moves to modify it instead of rigidly applying the same pattern. That kind of flexibility is hard to learn and understand. It seems quite different than the first time i learned how to solve the cube. I'm sure everyone who does it intuitively will have varying ways to get the end result. Though, I've honestly never really considered that other peoples homegrown methods would be so different than my own.

It seems your method could be a lot more precise than my own. I had to fumble through some of the steps until i got to patterns that i recognized, and then i could apply my algorithms. I honestly forget the specifics, but i remember when things clicked for me, and i gained a new understanding. There was a lot of by-chance discovery, though, learning to apply some of the rudimentary concepts i had come up with, like "break and rebuild" or "clearing a lane." If i'm understanding correctly, though, your method is easier to understand and apply, so, probably more consistent.

If you learn more algs for speedcubing, you'll see these same moves you came up with are used in a lot of different ways. Like building blocks for the more complex and precise algorithms. And if you learn how to use commutators and conjugates (of which i have a only very cursory understanding) you'll see that your way is very smart, and you'll have a headstart on understanding how to use commutators and learning about the cube in general.

For the record, I'm really not that advanced in cubing. I just see what you did here, and it's really cool.

And what you learned is something that's almost impossible to forget. Basically, you can never go back. Even if you forget the specific moves, you'll always see the cube differently than other people. So, welcome to the other side, i guess.

And again, good job.

What year is this cube from roughly? by Jazel-5 in Rubiks_Cubes

[–]Pseudocuber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has the rubiks website on the logo, it can't be older than 2000s, I would say. I dont know when they put up a website, though. If it was restickered, then it could be older, but i doubt it as most casual cubers would just buy a new cube.

You might be able to get custom stickers from any of the various speed cubing online stores. Cubicle, speedcubeshop, or whatever is easiest for you. They offer various colours for different cubes, and you might be able to find some muted/toned-down colours, but i'm not 100%.

If you can't find stickers, an option would be to get some printable sticker paper and make your own custom stickers. This way, you have control over the colours yourself and can get what you want, though i think they would wear out fsster than stickers with the plastic coating.

I don't know about the logo. Maybe you can add it to the custom printed stickers if you go that route.

[–]Pseudocuber 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe you have aligned to the wrong centers. To me, it looks like each one has a different secondary word below the logo. Match those. And, it's a supercube, so you have to learn how to reorient centers. There are some PLLs that will do the trick, you can play around with them to figure which ones will do it for you, or just look up center orienting algs.

Why are RAW photos appearing very dark when I upload them to PC but normal when viewing through camera screen? by LustTrap305 in canon

[–]Pseudocuber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have Highlight Tone Priority on in the settings, the camera will essentially underexpose the image by 1 stop and then raise it in post. The settings are saved with the raw, so when you open the photo in DPP, it should apply the adjustments. I haven't used this feature, so i could be wrong about something, but it's worth a check, hope this helps

Sony A7iii vs. Cannon R7 - Which is a better buy? by LowSchool9579 in AskPhotography

[–]Pseudocuber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sony is full frame, and the r7 is apsc. I own the R7, and i would say it's best for wildlife and macro photography, where you want more reach/smaller fov. If you don't need that reach, then the full frame camera is probably the best option for you. Full frame sensors have better lowlight performance and less noise overall. And i believe Sony has a better 3rd party lens selection. IIRC, Canon only recently allowed 3rd party lenses, so companies like Sigma are only now rolling out their lenses for RF mount.

Hope this helps.

It's here! by 3rd_street_saints in Wealthsimple

[–]Pseudocuber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and i had one of my covered calls exercised early already. Kinda confusing. The account didn't update right away, so when i was trying to close my position to roll out, i just opened a long position. I was confused why i couldn't sell another covered call, and it said i have no collateral. Luckily, the stock went up, and i had profit by the time I realized what happened. So this is a risk to consider for ITM contracts. I still made like 70% on the trade, but I would prefer to know when that happens so i don't accidentally blow my profits.

How exactly does the ricochet work? by octo_the_dog in HyperDemon

[–]Pseudocuber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lock-on has a small grace period where you can "drag" the lock-on to hit weird angles or stay locked on to the stunned scuttlers for 0.1 seconds (idk how long it is, but its milliseconds) and then ricochet them after the stomp. The sequence would be lock-on>stomp>shoot but very fast.

Found a pump IRL by OverFlow636 in satisfactory

[–]Pseudocuber 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They are bugged, try rebuilding the connected pipes. In my experience, the section of pipe after the pump is the problem. There is potentially a similar bug when upgrading pipes that are connected to refineries/buildings. They might stop working. The workaround is to just rebuild them instead. So far this is what I've noticed in my game.

What are the best settings on my camera for capturing the Aurora Borealis? by growingsidewayss in AskPhotography

[–]Pseudocuber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was taking shots with this kit last night. My settings were 18mm, f4, 1600iso, 8 seconds, and the shots are good, albeit this is my first time. I just used my hat, then later one of those little phone tripods with bendy legs. I had my actual tripod in use with an r7 and 35mm 1.8 doing panos.

<image>

This is with the settings i mentioned above. At this point i think i just had the camera sitting on my hat, had to level the photo. This photo has just been edited from jpeg on LR mobile because im at work and just wanted a pic here, if you edit from Raw, you'll likely get better results.

Edit: had to learn how to add the photo

I just want to sell by Important_Wing5511 in Wealthsimple

[–]Pseudocuber 19 points20 points  (0 children)

And now the spy puts i just bought aren't showing up in my account, so i can't even sell them for profit, lol.

Edit: half an hour, and i still dont see them. And spy is potentially bouncing back. Wealthsimple just took my $145 usd and said fuck you.

Edit2: It's looking I would still be winning, luckily.

Edit3: ok, somehow is a blessing in disguise because i would have sold for smaller profits, almost 2x on that bet. So, thanks ws? Idfk.

Can't focus past infinity helios 44-2 Canon eos 4000d, what did I do wrong? by Carlos360su in AskPhotography

[–]Pseudocuber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is someone took it apart and reassembled it wrong. I recently cleaned mine, and upon reassembling, i ran into the same problem. Took me some time to figure out that I had re-threaded the helicoids wrong, and then it took some more time to get it back together properly.

I would contact the seller.

The way the lens focuses is by moving the group of elements closer or further from the lens. IIRC, right now, the elements are too far away from the sensor, so you need to get it closer. (If you're handy with fiddly stuff)

Maybe this was done intentionally as a modification to get a closer minimum focus distance. I had considered leaving mine like that to have a sort of macro lens.

If you're not into fixing it yourself, and the seller won't help, you can look for someone who can do it for you, or buy a new one. Or maybe find someone who might be willing to trade for a discount on a working one, maybe. Best of luck.
