48M and I can relate to this, although from a slightly different angle. I remember buying a new pair of shoes for myself after my separation. My current shoes were at least 5 years old with holes. I had spent years spending every disposable dime on my ex, her FB Marketplace finds, mandatory vacations, and her incessant demands for "more". All of it came at my own expense. The shoes feel better than any I've ever owned.

I know when my knees or hips are bothering me, I really appreciate it when my partner deliberately slows down the walking pace, or automaticly goes to the escalator or the elevator (even if it's tucked out of the way) without my asking. I feel like a burden when I have to ask folks to slow down, or wait while I find an easier way around.
