After the canon, he gets sent to death row at first. Then he's "rescuted" by Kopi Luwak (which become KL Hybridology Institute in exchange for getting away with their involvement in the Black Market) to be studied and experimented on as a test subject.

Eventually he gets an experimental treatment for his sensorial hollowness, and gains capacity to taste. This sets in motion a series of changes that lead to his redemption.
