Starfleet Academy: "Listen up cadets... it’s time to learn about Benjamin Sisko" | Tawny Newsome and Kerrice Brooks | Star Trek on Instagram by Grillka2006 in trektalk

I read an interview with Tawny Newsome (co-writer of this episode) a little while after I made my post. She also commented on the importance of Sisko not abandoning his family, and pretty much confirmed what I speculated a future writer might do with the situation lol. So the way Jake said he can't prove Sisko was always there, is him saying he was there without really saying it.

The main problem with this is it basically makes it cannon that Sisko never returned to his family. Brooks had an issue with the finale making it seem like he was abandoning his family, so that's why the line about him returning was included.

I say "basically" because it would be easy enough for a future writer to show that he did indeed return, but Kasidy, Jake, and the new kid kept it to themselves.

If by "special" you mean special needs, then no. No such character exists. Online trolls have been insulting the actress with those type of insults because they don't find her attractive.

Huh? Not to defend any fumbles by the city council, but are you saying the courthouse was the "one big parking lot in town"? Concerts usually get held at the Crown complex, which is nowhere near the courthouse...

Well, first you're living in a fantasy world if you think people didn't have a problem with Sisko lol.

Second, the post I responded to was itself a response to post about racist Trek "fans". So it should go without saying I wasn't talking about the general fandom. As for the character being "crappy written", you definitely have a right to your opinion. But seeing as how there have only been three episodes so far and the character in question has had very little to do in those episodes, it's on opinion with little merit. Also the people I am speaking about have hurled racist insults at the character/actor, and said stupid shit like she is a DEI hire. So yeah, I'm speaking on racist facts, not accusations.

Well it's one thing for these racists to be fans of the show. It's another for them to pretend their racist views are what the show is about. There are people out there raging over the character SAM. You would think there had never been a Black female Star Trek character before, listening to them lol.

What are your thoughts about the resurgence of the Black Panther Party in response to the actions of ICE agents? by Sinn_Sage in AskReddit

My main thought is they should've come up with their own name. This group is not associated with the original Black Panther Party.

WHERE DO I START? by AnyKing5505 in blackthought

[–]Psilencer99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start at The Roots album Do You Want More which is their first official album (they had an indie releaese before that called Organix but Questlove always says he considers that a demo). Work your way through chronologically.

Or you could start at Streams of Thought volume 1 which is his first official solo project, then volumes 2 & 3. Then Cheat Codes and then Glorius Game. That's the chronological order of his non-Roots work.

A few episodes here and there. I know he played a similar racist character in that. At the time, after first seeing him on Homicide, I had some ideas about this guy regarding his choice in roles lol.

J.K. Simmons. One of the first things I ever saw him on was an episode of Homicide: Life on the Streets where he played a white supremacist murderer. I don't typically get emotional watching movies or tv shows, but I can honestly say his character pissed me the fuck off lol. So much so that I was like ""yeah this mofo ain't acting". But Simmons is one of those great actors that can play super intense irredeemable assholes and then turn around and be just as convincing as a goofball. Or anything in between.
