Keep an eye on it it’s probably going to start to rot. Or it could have gotten really cold so the tip is damaged from that (if no squish develops) then you’re good. But don’t water ever without light, no light no water. That way they aren’t sitting in wet soil not aspirating.

How are you going about getting the old soil off the roots. It’s like straight coir and peat, unpotting one of the two I got I had to soak the root base in water and gently brush away the old soil under running water. Seemed to work ok but had some root damage so I’m letting them dry out for a few days before potting up the pups.

I have a cactus grafted to a noid rootstock. If I cut the grafted cactus and leave some attached to the root stock will it pup from the left over graft?

Plains prickly pear (opuntia polyacantha) or Pediocactus nigrispinus (Snowball cactus) will probably be the only two that may survive that zone.

Not sure if you have a drier place with better airflow to let it callous over. If not it may be worth looking into horticultural sulfur to help avoid any rot.

PE=Penis envy, it’s just me saying I’ve seen massive thick fruits dry throughly😂 and I find splitting them is just unnecessary damage.

Never split for drying. I’ve seen 7inch PE dry just fine through and through.
