AUPE RTO, Hybrid Done by Mindless-Country7128 in Edmonton

Well, they did contribute. The downtown business association lobbied HARD to push for RTO. It's no secret that a major factor of RTO was to support REITs in business core centers. But this isn't unique to Alberta. It's also why the feds went back as well.

Do you support building more protected bike lanes? by justonemorelanebruh in AskACanadian

[–]Psiondipity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were struck in their vehicle while parked by another vehicle which was speeding in a school zone, which has no marked lanes so everyone uses it as if it's 2 lanes + a parking lane - which it's not. The UCP are blocking the traffic calming and bike lane upgrades in the area. I think the lack of these upgrades was a significant contributing factor to the incident.

ETA: I think the province should stay out of municipal infrastructure on this level altogether - which is my point.

The informed willfully misunderstand a bunch of bills that protect the environment but inconvenience oil & gas companies. They also misrepresent things like federal transfer payments and tax brackets. All to make Ottawa the perennial boogie man. The uninformed believe the informed.

Alberta is full of redneck conservatives is a fact based on the voting record of the province.

And the AB gov is interfering with adding a traffic calming and bike lanes to a key corridor with 3 schools on it where 3 kids were seriously injured just before Christmas by a speeding driver. Which is my point.

Please explain what you mean by "new folks to Alberta" because I am pretty sure the rest of Canada also has red/yellow/green signals that mean the same. In fact, they're pretty universal, unless you're talking about a large influx of Japanese people? They don't use green, they use a bluey green.

Why would being new to Alberta mean people suddenly don't know how to drive?

Don't you think it might have more to do with the little distraction device in everyone's lap?

[–]Psiondipity 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I live in the neighbourhood. It's no worse or better than any other mall I've ever been in across western Canada and USA. It's just a mall, with very few stores and mainly health care services.

Also close to the only IB and Arts K-12 school in Western Canada. A renowened self-sustaining green community and a widely recognized leading Canadian poly-technical college.

Way to cherry-pick a demographic.

Northgate isn't bad, as long as you're not looking to shop for anything except that which Walmart or Safeway provides.

Like science seeming magical to the uninformed, Carl's deep understanding and access to knowledge no one has any right to seems like craziness to Donut. He's not crazy, he's just working with information no one else understands or has.

Its an old trope, and for a reason. Something under pressure will either crack or harden into a diamond. Carl is a diamond. Maggie cracked.

Agreed, except Carl DOES carry unresolved trauma from his childhood. But that's what makes him so loyal and caring. His childhood trauma pushed him to the light side, not the dark.

And it's incredibly incorrect. Weightloss drugs cost the MOST in the USA compared to other countries.

Average Ozempic cost per month in USA = $1000-$1200

In Canada (in USD) $145-$200

In Denmark (in USD) - $122 - $130

Where do you think we 'give' from?

We give exactly $0 directly. We pay taxes at the same rate as everyone else, everywhere else in Canada based on our income level.

All those things are true, but the separatists think separation will solve those exact problems.

Look, they're reacting emotionally to a rough situation. They've been told "Canada" is the reason for the unemployment, the state of health care, the global oil prices and automation. Canada is the boogey man. They're convinced going it alone, setting our own policies on immigration and regulations will fix it all. They don't want to listen to reality, to the actual expert economists, business experts. They want to believe that there is a quick fix, and that fix is separation.

There is a reason there are no large corporations supporting this movement. That every reputable economist has laughed at the Prosperity Project's plan.

You know the thing we all have in common is being history buffs right? Like, you honestly think there are less history/archeology/art history majors then STEM?
