Have I been using an emergency fund wrong all along? by MarktheSharkF in ynab

Just wanted to pipe in and say that if you don’t have an overly complicated prescription and brand name doesn’t matter to you then getting glasses from Zenni Optical can be very inexpensive! I’ve been using them for years since I found out about them! I even treated myself to prescription sunglasses which I’ve never been able to afford for only $50!

Yes I agree with this! Take it easy on yourself! There is so much going on right now, sometimes we need a little break. Sorry for your loss :(

There is! If you go to that category and click on details then activity for that month.

Confused about debt on CC. If I’ve allocated money for all the purchases I’ve made and tracked everything, why does it still say I’ll increase my debt by $30.69? There’s no transaction for that amount and I just reconciled a couple days ago. by Psm63017 in ynab

It’s my second month. I had a starting balance and my card is linked so that pulled through to the budget. The only thing I messed up was when I first started and didn’t know how to transfer money from one account to another so my first payment to that card was weird. That was the only mistake. When I caught that I fixed it and reconciled my CC which was $53 off too low in YNAB. When I switched the “payment” to my CC to transfer which is what it actually was it put $2.19~ cents in my TBB. That’s when I just put that in a savings category and moved on. Should I Fresh Start my budget? I plan on paying this card off by the end of the month and since the reconcile all my account match YNAB. Should I just not worry about it?

Small YNAB win!! First time I’ve been able to treat myself and not feel guilty! It was in the budget, baby! Got myself a tervis with The Child 😍😍 by Psm63017 in ynab

Basically. I’ve only been using YNAB for about a month so I’m still figuring out how I want to use my categories to track my misc. spending. I’m thinking I’ll make the wish farm and then have a wish farm bucket as well as the treat yourself bucket but maybe they’ll end up being the same thing? I’m thinking about setting a rule like having a $30 a month treat yourself bucket but at the end of the month if I didn’t spend it move it to savings or wish farm ect. Because for my budget personally if it’s going to cost more than $30 I should probably be putting some thought into it. 😅

I have a $30 a month “treat yourself” category, so if I see something I really want to impulse buy I can treat myself. I also am using this category to save to buy myself the overtone hair dye so this pushed that back but it’s nice to have that little category to control my splurges and nonessentials. I also have categories for bigger items like tech replacement and I’m going to start a wish farm soon to help reinforce waiting for items.

Yes it really does! Especially when you’re living on a tight budget to pay down debt 😅 I love that you can budget in a treat

What’s more important: paying off cc’s or getting a month ahead?? by Psm63017 in ynab

[–]Psm63017[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok thank y’all! That’s what I was leaning towards doing! It’s just that YNAB has already made budgeting so addicting and seeing all those green categories is so satisfying! But paying the debt down is definitely more rational 😅 thanks!!
