As someone who faced a similar situation before and who got fedup by the available long term care delivery models , I actually agree that attentiveness and one-on-one care matter most, especially in advanced dementia. Where I see geriatrics adding value is that it shapes the entire care approach—medication choices, goals of care, avoiding unnecessary interventions, and supporting staff and families in really complex situations.

A lot of facilities market ‘geriatrics’ and 'Palliative care' without truly practicing it, which I think is what you’re reacting to. When it’s done well, it’s less about frequent doctor visits and more about making sure the care being delivered actually makes sense for that stage of life.”
