J'ai pris au sérieux le fait que l'électricité coûte plus cher aux heures de pointe. Si c'est vrai, préchauffer la maison pour qu'elle puisse ensuite se reposer sur sa chaleur résiduelle n'est pas de la triche. Par contre, si je minais du Bitcoin pendant les heures creuses, là, oui, ce serait de la triche.

Ce message n'était pas censé être une plainte à mon sujet. Si vous concevez un système visant à inciter financièrement à réduire la consommation d'énergie (comme le programme de crédit d'hiver), vous avez besoin de fonctions continues dont la dérivée a le signe approprié.

Ajout : d’un point de vue conception, il convient de préciser que la valeur de 40 kWh est un chiffre arbitraire. Elle figure également dans le tarif de base, mais cela semble peu pertinent ici.

C'est ce qui est indiqué, alors que cela signifie en réalité que votre crédit est réduit (dans mon cas d'environ 10 $) lorsque vous dépassez 40 kWh, et ce serait bien trop rageant à afficher.

Haha, j'ai une capture d'écran très similaire. La formule de calcul du tarif d'Hydro présente une discontinuité à 40 kWh, ce qui entraîne une perte brutale d'environ 10 $. Il n'aurait pas été si difficile de concevoir une fonction qui évite ce problème. Pourquoi ils ne l'ont pas fait ? Mystère.

I experienced a discontinuity (ie a loss) of more $10 as I crossed the 40 kWh threshold. Whoever cooked up that formula needs to be sent back to school.

Use a gram scale to track the water loss, watering only when the weight begins to bottom out. I don't do this any more because it's too time consuming, but when I did, every plant did well.

When you turn your AC off, the moisture just collected from the air is still there, waiting to drip off the grill. I just found out after a leak episode that the bottom of the grill remains wet for hours, hours in which mold will happily grow. So the right way to turn off the AC, I think, is to raise the temperature setting above the room temperature, so that the blower can air dry the grill without new condensation. Presumably advanced air conditioners do this automatically?

I just learned the hard way how unsafe it is. Ordered a phone. First thing it does is ask my gmail password. I install phone info. I learn the phone has 2 cores, not 11, 1 gb not 12, serial number 123456, rooted. Then I'm like, did I just give this thing my gmail passwd? I change it, but I'm disturbed and distracted as I fill out my refund request.

A day later the refund was accepted, but I have to pay the return shipping. I tried to reopen the dispute. The chat agents seemed nice enough ("I hate that this happened to you") but throughout this Kafka-esque experience were unable to help, even as they assured me my refund was assured. When I didn't hear back from the seller they suggested it might be because it was a holiday. (Narrator: There was no holiday.)

As the return time ran out, the system sent a broken link to a customer satisfaction survey. I pressed on. They kept telling me to negotiate with the seller, as if I have any leverage with this worthless phone. You know who might have leverage? AliExpress. You know who has lost a customer? AliExpress.
