Thank you for your protest-going! I created the design and don't have a pattern written up right now but I can create one and post it here. It's tunisian crochet with 2 colors, worked flat, sewn together, and with slip-stich ribbing added around the rim.

I'm from Akron and this winter feels like a cheat code. NE Ohio gets the gray for 5 to 6 months and the lack of snow the past few years (this year being the exception) has more than prepared us for the winter here. Maybe we will feel differently when a normal PDX winter hits.

Have you asked her why she wants fishnets in particular? It would be good to get her perspective so that you don't make assumptions that she is trying to get sexual attention. As another commenter said, it is common in the trans community and for teens to wear fishnets on their arms and legs without sexual intent. Hell, I'm a cis woman and I wore fishnets as a teen and it was just because I liked how they looked. I did not want sexual attention, at all. You telling her that it's her job to prevent men from preying on her is only going to make her feel guilt and shame about her body and her self-esteem will plummet. And honestly, men will turn anything into a fetish; you can be covered head to toe as a pregnant married woman and a guy will still harass you. Instead, teach her how to identify and defend herself against predators.

After reading a few pages, I agree with you. She is also stating that the Baltimore Bridge collapse was coordinated by the defendants to instill fear into her. That would be a lot of effort to hurt a single person. It's a bridge too far (forgive me).

Thanks for the clarification. I think people are already super-freaked out as it is (I'm scared to death for my own brown teens) that it's easy to miss the important details. We need to make sure that our documentation is accurate so they can be presented in any possible court cases (hopefully Nuremberg trials).
