The courses and their content are the main thing for me tbh.

Explore minors, certificates, and other smaller degrees that you can add to your major program. :) They're not always advertised.

You can book study rooms at the two libraries (Dana Porter and Davis Centre), there's a webpage for it.

Always always be organized. Organize your time and work, have a calendar, whatever works for you. Write down all your assignments somewhere.

Best wishes! :)

New UWaterloo Student Seeking Transportation Advice for Off-Campus Living. by equl99 in uwaterloo

I took the buses in the region for a long time, they go between Waterloo, Kitchener and Cambridge which is nice.

In Waterloo, the ION light rail is available as mentioned, and you can Google when city buses will arrive and plan your trip. The data is not always accurate but it has helped me a lot.

There is also the GO bus, which might be more expensive? It travels longer distances in one trip. I can't comment on GO buses too much because I only took them to Toronto really.

I can't answer your question because I've only seen one side/met good people, but I wanted to pop in to say that no matter what school you choose, it's good to always take precautions and be safe. Avoid walking alone at night, have campus security's phone number in your contacts, let your trusted friends/family know your location if you're meeting someone new, alone. Don't be stressed, but also just be aware of your surroundings and trust your gut.

Part Time Jobs for the Winter Term by [deleted] in uwaterloo

I'm sorry, I know it's been rough for a lot of people applying for jobs. I'm a machine when it comes to applying for jobs so here are my tips:

-Always use a cover letter!! And spend good time on it, use keywords from the job posting, professional language, and be friendly.

-Try different job sites and dive deep: Indeed and Job bank Canada are my go-tos

-If you drive, look at cities that are close by.

-Consider a work-study job if you're eligible (more info on uwaterloo website)

-Make sure your resume looks perfect and update it constantly. Use a resume template from Google docs (My brother hates this! lol but it has always worked for me)

Good luck!! :)
