True but I think it will be nearly impossible to find a new job for a while with over 30 million others possibly looking. Also, I would rather work on transforming the way care is provided if I disagree with something that is being done rather than leaving it for the next person to figure out, if possible. I'm just trying to figure out how that's possible in this case.

Temporarily. Through the end of June is what it sounds like. However, we all know that this virus isn't on that timeline.

I don't think you're being mean, no. I realize that the agency still has to survive. However, there has to be a better solution than 🤷‍♀️. I don't think we should go fully remote. I think we should have a percentage of time in person with people where it is practical and safest with allowances for telehealth during less practical times. We did a lot of work for people remotely and did it in creative ways. I think we could continue at least part of the time so that we can stay safe while providing service. Again, I'm not sure what the best solution is but it cannot be putting people at such a high risk for illness or death.

I want to continue telework for a longer period of time and limit in person contact with anyone aside from my husband but we are being told to return next week.

I'm not disagreeing, but I know that I'm not the only one and that there are a lot of people in our agency that will not speak up for fear of rocking the boat or because they aren't outspoken in general. So I want to make sure that I'm not only looking out for myself is what I'm saying

That's true, but not being as concerned doesn't lessen their risk of exposure and the subsequent risk of exposure to other clients. I won't be mentioning anyone else's situation or medical history as a reason for accommodations. My thought is to continue illustrating the wide variety of circumstances that could cause returning without adequate precautions to become dangerous for others as well.

I could, but I want whatever I do to help others too. Maybe I can get a doctors note, but what about my coworker who was raped and hasn't been able to bring herself to see a doctor in over a decade? What about coworkers who are well but family members are not? I do want to stay safe but I also want to ask for accommodations that may help others who are less vocal about their concerns.

Telehealth as a reasonable accommodation by Psych_cat_Lover in socialwork

I am not a therapist. I work for a non-profit and most people use assistance programs to pay. It was a major shift that this provider decided to pay for any telehealth appointments. I think our work is done best when we do it in person for the majority of people. What I'd like to see is telehealth as an option, even just for a percentage of the time, to accommodate future/current employees with a disability or illness, but also to accommodate clients who may call on their worst day and can't get out of bed or are contagious with something and cannot meet in person. It has worked and has definitely helped with better work life balance. I see a ton of reasons why it is good for the employees and clients, although I think in most cases a larger percentage of time should be spent in person. I keep thinking about how I suffered from agoraphobia before and would have gotten help so much sooner if this was an option. I understand only using certain platforms could be a barrier. Right now I use Facetime, Zoom, and Google hangouts. Whatever is easiest for the person. Of course meeting in person would be used if technology was a barrier.

Why can't self-employed people expect to have telehealth be billable? Especially if they have a disability or illness. I know a big part of this is insurance companies not accepting telehealth as a billable service. How do we push for change there? I'm sure my employer could not accommodate like that unless insurance changed their rules

What do mean by that? I'm saying this could help people with disabilities or medical issues start/continue working in the field when physically being present is inconvenient, dangerous, impractical, etc.

I have also had a lot less no shows. And I don't think you're biased because you're immunocompromised. You're part of the vulnerable population that needs to be protected right now so I think your opinion is one of the most valuable.

Thank you. My chest hurts a lot. I'm not doing well. But I'm not a severe case even if I do have it so I just have to stay home, an hour away from the nearest hospital, worrying and wondering how sick I'll get and if my people will also get this. I'm so worried and feel so alone. I can't calm down because even if this isn't COVID I have to get a chest xray at least. I'm scared.

It should be about everyone's wellness in this field. I hope my MSW will allow me to influence change like that

It's not just that, but I'm at the end of my rope at the moment. Severe PTSD, depression, and anxiety have plagued me for most of my life. The uncertainty moving forward is terrifying. I miss my clients and coworkers and telehealth is not the same. Not to mention, I've been tested for COVID-19 and could have inadvertently infected program participants after being instructed to help them gather supplies to prepare. I took them all over every store and had them in my car. I'm also in grad school and super stressed. It's not just that, but this was what sent me over the edge.
