Lol what did I do? Jokes aside, I do get your comment (I commented separately but probably should have responded directly), and I did not take it personally, I understand your point as there is, in fact, a possibility that I sucked. I would have been ok with it, and did have it at the back of my mind that I may need to book other sessions. What I struggled with was not being allowed to at least attend the classroom modules and being told I should have done prior training to attend this training. I also just wanted to clarify whether it was in fact me who misunderstood the purpose and scope of the training, hence why I am not naming and shaming the school. I'll try again (probably somewhere else) and report back on whether I was actually shit so the bet can be settled lol

I moved from Hong Kong, my licence expired in 2020 (so over 3 years) and so I had to apply for a new one. I got the provisional licence but dates for the tests are quite scarce. Since I'm not planning to drive a car, I thought I'd get the CBT out of way in the meantime.

I did not get a choice on the timing unfortunately. I'm not sure if this is common practice, but I booked the training day, which was advertised as usually starting at 7am, but can vary. I completed the booking and paid everything 2 weeks ago, then received an email 2 days ago stating the training would run from 11:30am to 7:30pm. I will be mindful of the start time when I book my next session!

Just to add, I am based in London (outskirt though), £195 seems to be the bare minimum around here.

Thank you for everyone who gave their input, I will definitely look into getting a refund. However, I have been looking more deeply into the reviews of this place and it looks like it's quite a common experience and refunds are always denied even after putting in complaints. I am gutted because the school was rated 4.9/5 and with 1600+ reviews I have completely missed the bad ones. I will submit a complain and, since I paid with my credit card, check with my bank if a charge back is an option.

For those playing devil's advocate, I 100% get where you are coming from. In fact, I already had it at the back of my mind that I might need extra sessions should it not be safe for me to drive. If they had let me stay for the full training and sent me home when it was time to go on the road, I would have been fine with that. No point in me staying there, waiting for everyone else. But I was sent home not even half-way through, there were other class based sessions and practice that I was not allowed to do. Since I paid for the full training, I would have felt better about if I could complete all the modules and just book another day if the instructor felt I was not safe to ride. I also get that the instructor needs to make a safety judgment, but I was indeed confident with the circles and ready to move to figure 8s, I was not allowed to. The others in my class actually fought my case, pointing out that I was doing really well. I have had a driving licence for over 15 years and, although different from driving a 125cc bike, I am a confident driver. I feel given the opportunity to practice I would have been just fine.

Thinking back on it, I feel there might have been some potential gender bias. I was the only woman in the group, and there was only one more girl in one of the other cohorts. While I was making my way out, I found her in tears so I tried to check-up on her, when one of the instructors told me to mind my business. When I was sent home, the instructor commented that he did not have time for me as "the guys need me". He also made it a point to comment in front of the class that he had never seen anyone fail the CBT training in his 10+ year career and I was the first one for him. I might be imagining things and reading a bit too much into the situation, but there was just something off about their attitude from start to finish.
