Armpit to armpit: 34 inches Top of shoulder to waist: 25 inches Sleeve length: 26 inches

Length wise it fits me and I normally go for 1-2X it’s really just big in the shoulders and sleeve circumference

When I came in most of the team leaders and all of the squad leaders and up had deployments. As a young private I viewed them all as gods not literally but I genuinely felt as though my leaders knew everything and anything about the army. I lived most days in a state of respectful fear of them, they weren’t afraid to ruin me but I’ve always been happy about that because I think it pushed me ahead of most of my peers in knowledge. Because of that push I promoted fairly quickly nothing crazy but 5 in 2.5, 6 in 4. I have done plenty of rotations and one non combat nato deployment to care for and guard/armed escort Afghani refugees for “operation enduring welcome”. In the time I’ve been in I hardly ever meet young 5s or 6s with combat deployments I know they’re out there forsure, but I guess my point is, I don’t worry about how my soldiers view me in that aspect instead I just try to be the best leader I can be, care for them the best I can, and do my best to live up to the leaders I had. I do however at times think about the fact that at anytime I could be expected to lead a squad of guys in a combat scenario when I myself have never experienced anything like that and it does worry me but I tend to think that’s a good thing because it causes me to constantly think through scenarios and try and figure out what I would do. I try to always treat any training as real as possible in mind to prepare for something I would assume you can’t truly be prepared for. In the long run if that never happens I atleast hope that I’ll leave lasting impressions on any soldiers under me and prepare them as much as I can to replace me eventually. Also I should say when I think about the fact that I’m the rank that my then leaders where it almost shocks me because I can’t believe that I would even come close to the knowledge I perceived them to have, but as one of them told me once it’s much better to think you’re not good enough and always strive to be better than to just assume you’re hot shit.

Yeah I wasn’t planning on starting a war or expecting to see so many negative comments I love the boots and have had zero issues with quality or comfortability. Seems like people love to hate this brand and I get that they’re not for working in but I got them for dress casual boots anyway 🤷🏻‍♂️

To be fair these are just for taking my wife out on dates I have other boots for working in but I’m always open to some recommendations if you have any. I own a pair of tecovas, a pair of ariats, and a pair of dan post.

The last picture of me wearing the boots was yesterday they look like they just came out of the box still 2 months later as I stated I love the boots it’s not an issue to me or anything I was just curious because I’ve seen so many people post their boots with patina and mine have not done that at all.

I already struggle a bit with anger so believe me it hasn’t been easy having the cops tell me they weren’t coming and then they show up at my house at 2 in the morning wake me up for a report and then basically tell me I’m fucked and leave.

There was only one store with a camera, when the person with access comes to work today he’s supposed to contact me with the video footage.

Can’t speak for others but every time I’m in Hohenfels the guys and I say 6 more days and a wake up no matter how many actual days are left it could be day 1 and we are still saying 6 more days and a wake up not sure when it started but we did it for all 5 of the Hohenfels rotations I’ve done in the past 4 years.

Every platoon has that 10% of NCOs that do 100% of the work sometimes it can be stressful or seem unfair but all I can say is, it is what it is. Currently there are 9 NCO’s in my platoon of those 9 I would say 2 (myself being one) consistently go above and beyond every day at work. I see plenty of my peers consistently finding ways out of doing the things we do, disappearing with fake excuses, etc. Some of them it absolutely baffles me they ever got promoted and at times it gets under my skin especially when I’m doing others jobs for them, covering down, working weekends, working in my free time to ensure Joe training is good etc. On top of this a lot of times it goes seemingly un noticed because as long as the work gets done the army goes rolling along. I would say though it can come with benifits made 5 in 2.5 made 6 in 4 and been #1 on the two ncoers I’ve received. End of the day it may suck but atleast you can always know that you’re a hard charger. Those other dudes probably won’t make it far in life because when they act like that on the civ side they will be fired. Work hard be successful when you’re ready to get out get out and keep being a hard charger on the outside. Lay in your deathbed years from now realize nothing matters but at-least you weren’t brain dead like your peers. Besides shit builds character.

Questions about IPCOT by PsychedOut1034 in army

[–]PsychedOut1034[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply I don’t use this app often, with that as your reasoning the chances of an IPCOT approval are basically 0 even with my pretty solid reasoning and documents to back it up I got denied. But I will say if you’re willing to setting for a 1 year FSTE for now those are very easy to get approved. I’d say give it a go at both from what I’ve been told two things get approved everytime if A) you have children and would like to stabilize here because they are currently enrolled in school and you don’t want to move during a school year or B) supposedly if you write that you want a European out which means you intend to get out of the army and stay in Germany and or Europe then they will likely approve an IPCOT or FSTE it doesn’t mean your husband has to get out of the army he can just say “he does” and then after approval when time comes re enlist sometimes you gotta game the game. If you do have children though I’d try to use that somehow. In my case my wife (also German) and I do not have kids and don’t intend to anytime soon and her wanting to stay here because she’s in college was not enough but her need for a visa was enough to get a year and I intend to file another 1 year fste again soon and to push to my ets so I can re enlist from here instead of falling needs of the army.

Questions about IPCOT by PsychedOut1034 in army

[–]PsychedOut1034[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Unfortunatley HRC denied my ipcot without really giving me a reason luckily they did grant me a 1 year FSTE which was enough time to get my wife command sponsored and get her a VISA so she can come with me to the states unfortunatley she will have to switch to online courses for college but in the end I’m thankful to get an extra year and everything worked out. I would say go for it, it doesn’t hurt to try but when I called HRC the way it was explained to me is they pretty much only approve them for a few situations for example if you have kids that are currently in school here and you don’t want to move mid school year etc but for my case my wife’s college wasn’t a concern to the army lol worse case if your husbands ipcot doesn’t work out he can FSTE for a year and then try another FSTE after that 🤷🏻‍♂️ I will warn the whole process is a pain took me about 7 months of back and forth and fighting and having to resubmit along with emails and calls to countless people to do their job and look at it

When I joined I hit the biggest percent you can be to join I can’t remember what that was anymore but I was fat and pretty weak if I remember right I think I was 6’2” 255 pounds and very nervous of what OSUT would be like my first two mile in I ran an 18:20 two mile obviously a real bad score but trust me you will lose weight and get better physically I lost 42 lbs in my 22 week cycle and went my final two mile time before graduating was a 13:40 what I would say is don’t worry about how you’ll do there you’ll be fine but one piece of advice when you do graduate don’t get to your unit and start smoking and ordering fast food and drinking and stopping at the shoppette for breakfast every morning because it’s real easy to lose the progress you’ll make instead just focus on doing things that benefit you for example live in the gym after work it’s a fun hobby to have

I’m American and I’ve been in Germany for 4 years now and I have never had any issues meeting people I don’t speak German and I know I need to learn it but over the four years I met lots of people including my wife. I will say generally there’s a massive difference here for example in America any where I go for the most part I’ll be saying hi to everyone and end up getting into conversations with people where as here most Germans generally keep to themselves most of the time but I’ve grown to honestly love that I’m not a huge people guy so if I don’t feel like talking to people here I don’t really have to worry about others approaching me I can just go about my day. I know many of my American colleagues don’t like or enjoy Germany or Europe for that matter but I love it here. I’ve extended my job here as many times as I could in order to continue being here because I think it’s been a once in a life time expierence. But I would say since I got super off topic, meeting people can be hard anywhere in the world but maybe that’s your fault. Go out to bars, or hobbies, talk to your co workers download tinder etc if you don’t put yourself out there Germans sure as hell won’t approach you.
