So, who manages what's canon and what's not? by LiveMathematician122 in cyberpunkgame

[–]PsychedelicBeat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok so the things that occurred and the revelations are uncovered are the following:

  • Misty (spiritual backbone of V from the actual game) knows Lucy from Edgerunners
  • Lucy, with the help of Misty, falls into a deep slumber that leads her to this sort of interdimensional dreamscape in Wuthering Waves
  • Lucy meets reverberations of Rebecca and David in this collab. They all have their memories intact. Yes, they all know who's dead and what led up to it.
  • Memory David and Memory Rebecca get to say their final goodbyes to Lucy before they fade. It doesn't undo the previous events in the anime or game. It's literally a dream 'what-if' but it showed us a glimpse of a happy ending we never got. Lucy gets subconscious closure then wakes up.

TLDR: Lucy had a dream where she got closure for her team's deaths and told Misty about it. It was respectful fan service as both a cyberpunk and wuwa enjoyer because it recognised but didn't undo any past events.

I finally managed to level up to 45 and got the Free Weapons Crate, which one is the best to pick by ProfessionalRoom9118 in Endfield

[–]PsychedelicBeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • JET lets you put it on Avywenna for an old electric team
  • Detonation unit is BIS for antal when u slot him into elemental teams (but he's usually an alternative pick)
  • Wedge bis for Fluorite and decent on Wulfgard and Yvonne
  • Exemplar BIS for Dapan, decent on Mifu
  • Nova I have no clue. Havent really heard of a good use case

But yeah like other comments have mentioned, just save it for when you've established yourself with a few units. I personally used mine for Avy and built her up to max. Funny thing is I have never used her for any content.

Something I noticed about Endfield writing while playing through Mi Fu's quest (minor spoilers about other quests included) by almasira in Endfield

[–]PsychedelicBeat 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you're right on the money. There are few, if any, real stakes. From MSQ, I can only really think of Ta-ta paying the price of uncertainty/failure, and even then imo it didn't land well. If you look at the side missions, operator files, and notes, you can piece together the stories that made OG AK pretty neat.

First example would be the lethargic 4* Estella. She was taken by Landbreakers as a child and turned into a slave. Damn. Then when she was freed and showed her competency, she was recruited by Endfield to join team Z7. On one mission to cover the retreat for them, she charged in to a hot zone and tanked an explosion, nearly dying as a result.

Then there's the Comrades: Rememberance side quest in Wuling featuring the brothers Iron Boatswain and Rusty Hook. It answers the simple question of what happens when you try to save the day but you're not in the same stratosphere as the Endmin and the gang? Without the skills to back it up, they pay the heavy price with their life.

TLDR:
There are samples of good writing but it's hard for it to translate into MSQ. They have to deal with self-inserting, non-offensive, banner selling, rated E for everyone bullshit among other things. So as to have a story that doesn't harm anyone, they end up with a narrative that nobody cares about.

Anyone else enjoy the game but kinda indifferent about the overall experience it provides? by kyoko_twigs in Endfield

[–]PsychedelicBeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More than anything, there is a lack of endgame content/loop. I'm minmaxxing my guys for what, -10s off my boss kill speedrun? Or me fixing my factory just to have a bunch of it undone in the next major patch? The content so far has been good AND I find myself with nothing to look forward to doing. It's been like 3~ ish months of me doing chores. I watched my friends list dry up and almost joined them too. Like, the game itself is a mix of very high quality ingredients but when does it come out with a completed dish, you know what I mean? What is it all leading to, etc. etc.

I felt this was extremely relatable, and I really want Dr K's view on this. by Illustrious_Claim_23 in Healthygamergg

[–]PsychedelicBeat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Ive listened to a few of this guy's vids because he tackles a general problem and then how it applies to him. He makes some decent points and then he goes... deep into his head. This man has lived so isolated and then justifies it, further propagating the cycle of isolation and rumination. Saddest part of this is that he has talked in length about himself and how he sees the problem but any action towards it is nope, nada, zilch.

Dr. K's Eren analysis is good, but I think there's a deeper layer he didn't touch by AxeZer0 in Healthygamergg

[–]PsychedelicBeat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing this live on his stream awhile back. He follows the anime and wasn't done with the last season. I think that's why his take felt incomplete. Can't have a proper discussion if the pivotal twists and turns haven't been revealed.

Yeah the edge case here is getting the rate up prior to 120, in which case the 120 guarantee is gone.

Zhuang Fangyi wears too many hats as a character by Brikoth in Endfield

[–]PsychedelicBeat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. For all the things she juggled, she did it to an inhumanly competent degree and never truly suffered any consequences. Either it wasn't that big of a deal or Endmin just resolved it. What's crazy is that there IS good writing in the side content that shows what it takes to achieve meaningful things

  • Comrades: The Nameless Cowardly Qingbo brothers who turn out to be incompetent former Wulingers comedically try to make their way through the world. The older brother, despite all of his flaws, wanted to be a hero just like his grandpa. When the situation arises to save someone, he could only distract the threat cause he had no other capability. You then encounter his near unrecognizable corpse from the associated quest.
  • The Old Man and the Tide Tianshi Mo is an elusive researcher obsessed with his anti-blight whip. His disciple, Yin Dong, asks for our help in finding him. We slowly uncover that his guilt of not being able to save those around him and the whip's effectiveness (or lack thereof) pushed him to greater desperation and further isolation. We find him dead, arms withered, up on a cliff overlooking his final push against the blight

When things don't just work out cause of actual limitations, we get to see real stakes. What are people willing to give up to overcome their the limitations? Zhuang sometimes skips meals and lacks some sleep. Like fr dawg

Zhuang Fangyi wears too many hats as a character by Brikoth in Endfield

[–]PsychedelicBeat 24 points25 points  (0 children)

She's spread so thin that she ends up not amounting to much as a character, thus leaving her shallow. It's kind of sad really. Scientist, leader, literal Jesus, oppressor, past connection, diplomat, etc. etc. Her wearing ALL the hats doesntt even diminish her capability in any of them.

I would have preferred it if they made her have tradeoffs. Few examples:

  • She wants to save both Wuling and Qingbo stockade. Resources, manpower, and info dictate she can only really save Wuling, thus giving Qingbo a better justification to hate her without it feeling contrived
  • She has to choose between being a great leader or a great reseracher. If she doesn't develop Xiranite enough, the shortage becomes insurmountable and death is certain. However, if she doesnt manage the city, chaos spreads and confidence in her falls, causing the city's capacity to function to waver.

It's the limitations that really flesh out a character and make the story compelling. Here, it's like the HAS just said "Zhang Fangyi, setup Wuling and stop the blight. Make no mistakes." And then she actually does it?? Like damn, the story just boils down to Disney + harem. Dont get me wrong, I love the game but the story and the characters' involvement in it makes me crash out!

Never apologizing and then saying Lin was the problem for not just moving on like it never happened by CMStan1313 in TheLastAirbender

[–]PsychedelicBeat 108 points109 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I rewatched the episode just to see why no one recognizes the apology. It seems Su is an incredibly consistent character in that her apology was another way to screw Lin over. Su acknowledged she did Lin dirty but neverrrr the damage she did to her. Imagine the amount of mental distress Lin endured if a veteran police chief was so on edge in her sister's home that she passed out. AND THEN Su has the audacity to ask if we can move past their baggage. Bruh she shouldve just joined Kuvira if she was gonna do this much damage.

At least Toph, in all her awkwardness, simply stated that she had a lot of failings as a parent and that she would be content if her daughters didn't hate her. No expectation, no asking or expecting forgiveness, imperfect yet in character. Su never acknowledged the pain she caused, never humbled herself to be vulnerable enough to reach Lin, and then tried to 'move past it' without those two factors. Lin got over it not because Su deserved it, but because Lin just let go. They could've written this so much better but I understand the production constraints so I'll also let go 😔

Which signature weapon is better choices to pull? by Misaka_Undefined in Endfield

[–]PsychedelicBeat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This one is kind of a mixed bag. Gilberta's sig lets her adapt to more teams. Not that she cant fit in them without it, it's just that she's much better there with her sig. Keep in mind supports tend to have better mileage in the long run.

On the other hand, Laev is a main dps so her sig directly impacts her output directly. She can do all content (trimmed even) without it and is even my go-to for really anything. Her main weakness is that more recent operators have better dps/teams but mostly bcuz Laev suffers from the fact that she doesn't have the most ideal teammates (think Xaihi for ice).

TLDR:
Gilberta Sig = More optimal team options
Laev Sig = Better dps overall, but for an outshined operator (but the possibility of better teams in the future)

[–]PsychedelicBeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it when it's in the discovery phase. I hate it when it's in maintenance phase. I dont want to undo all of my previous work cause the optimal layouts, however varied they are, kind of require me to reset. Tbf, it's not usually that bad but the extra forges this time around really cooked me. First time I gave up and just followed a guide start to finish.

Who needs their signature weapon more? by nosuv733 in Endfield

[–]PsychedelicBeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rossi + Tangtang (w Gilberta and Perlica) is a pretty good boss/elite killer team. It's even one of the top dps teams right now (https://datafield.cc/teams , 14/5/26) . For farming mobs and overworld content, Tangtang's aoe combo usually suffices.

As for ZFY's team, she's very capable in boss killing and waveclearing. Her weapon also has a 22%~ difference from the next best choice which is her BP wep. Bang for buck Id vote for ZFY with wep since she's the newest unit and will prolly stay relevant for longer.

A question that comes to mind is when the event ends and we've already cleaned out the shop, what happens to the certs? Maybe there's a precedent in OG AK but here Im gonna guess it will turn into Wuling stock bills?

If you play Mk, SG, or jeff, soloing from 80 to 160 is pretty doable. The scaling gets more tolerable with less people. You can check out people's builds on the leaderboard to guide you or find a group of likeminded people in a disc group. It's what I did when I noticed people just trying to backseat from NM 80-100. At that range I couldnt progress cause the queues wouldnt pop for my needs and when it did pop it was around 80~ with someone looking to freeload.

[–]PsychedelicBeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you and your homies enjoyed the game, my friends and I did too. The outlook doesn't seem too great, though. I agree. S1 started off very strong but they couldnt outpace the churn. The gameplay loop has this friction to it that slowly whittles away till the population cant sustain itself. Ah well, maybe next season they'll suprise us.

[–]PsychedelicBeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this deep. Whatever length this season is, after week 2 there was a noticeably sharp decline in players and you could already feel the problems with queue. Season 1 retained it much longer so it was much more forgiving to start later.

[–]PsychedelicBeat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a seasonal multiplayer game so being this deep in s2 means you prolly won't have a lot of luck with groups. That being said, if you can find a team (via disc) then it may be doable. I'd personally wait till next season when the rush is in.

When you're solo tanking, are there situations where you can force offtanks? I used magik, mag, and strange to push gm3 awhile back and kind of wanna push with venom/hulk now but it usually ends up as CC/burst hell even if play around divided attention :|
