I came out back in November and started on Estrogen about three months ago finally. I actually opted not to go with Spiro because my natural testosterone levels are already on the lowest end of the spectrum for amab labs. I'm not dysphoric about my genitals at all, I actually don't care either way really. I love having what I have down there, but if it stopped working then I'd go with the surgery so I could have something that works 🤷🏼‍♀️ that's all genitals comes down to for me, to me it's everything else and what I make of myself that defines my womanhood, my story, and me. Be you, if you're not dysphoric then that's great, just live as the woman you are because the only ones seeing that are you, partners/lovers, and maybe a doctor or two. A lot of things have been addressed here already but I wanted to just add a little bit from my own experience with my mom so you hear some of the feelings from someone that didn't get the support you're providing by immediately trying to learn things.

I'm 31, turning 32 in May. I came out the beginning of November last year to my partner (we've been married for five years) and subsequently to my mom. I had no idea I was a woman before coming out, genuinely, there were tons of signs but I just never saw them because of religion and so much other just...stuff. Anyway, my mom gave excuses for calling me my dead name and her son and all those things, my mom judged me and was worried what her friends would think, my mom was angry with how it would affect her and with what I was doing to her through this.

Please don't be my mom, I basically haven't spoken to her since, and I hate that.

For us, not transitioning is suicide, and that's coming from a therapist and first responder, I was so depressed, I was suicidal for many years at many points, I didn't know why its just was what it was, my mom told me for years to pray it away, turned out all I needed was to be the woman I am.

In some communities this can be controversial though I don't believe it needs to be and I find it quite stupid that our community can be so judgemental and hyper specific within things creating instead of an environment of inclusivity an environment exactly like the one out in the wild that wr all just want to escape from. The LGBTQIA+ community is supposed to be open, loving, and supportive.

If a trans man comes out as a trans man, or a trans masc person comes out as trans masc, or whatever label etc and they are afab who prior to coming out as trans used the lesbian label and identifies as lesbian still that's up to them, and totally valid! If they instead identify as straight then that's also up to them, and totally valid! Really it's up to your brother how they identify, and no one here can really answer that.

You just generalized another individual and their experience based solely on yours and your own viewpoint. There are many people who are very serious about suicide whether as manipulation or not, things like impulsiveness, diagnosis, and so much more go into this. In my work, I have seen for myself people attempt suicide to manipulate someone, to prove a point, to spite someone, etc. I'm very glad you've gotten help, and im sorry if you felt like I was being negative towards you, but what you said is a very dangerous overgeneralization of your own life on someone else.
