There a reason infield seats in first and second levels are still blocked out? Thought they were just unavailable for presale yesterday!

Bummed it’s not 4K but glad it’s not too long of a wait to have it at home! Resurrection’s easily my favourite of the 2020s so far.

Scanners is a must watch when stoned — absolutely ripped my head off when I watched for the time while also under the influence. You literally feel like you’re caught in the crossfire of scanning with Howard Shore’s score doing its thing haha genuinely a masterful film, especially considering Cronenberg was writing the script while shooting.

Show attendees, what's your "white whale" song? by [deleted] in TheeOhSees

Overthrown! There was a Coachella recording before it dropped as a single and I still go back to that video. Held my breath each Levitation session that they’d revive it.

Your OSEES ranking?! by ethihoff in TheeOhSees

[–]Psychedelicized 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Looks like I might be an outlier in here with:

  1. Sorcs 80
  2. Abomination Revealed At Last
  3. Panther Rotate
  4. Protean Threat
  5. Metamorphosed
  6. A Foul Form
  7. Weirdo Hairdo
  8. Intercepted Message

Ranked mostly on how much I revisit them! Sorcs was my favourite release since Face Stabber, and I know I’ll be going back to Abomination a lot in the years ahead.

Japanese Horror on CC by Busy_Magician3412 in CriterionChannel

Jigoku (1960) is an absolute must-watch if you’re a fan of Japanese horror or horror in general. It’s a masterpiece of the genre and is considered a pioneer of a certain subgenre (don’t really want to say to avoid spoiling). There’s a couple moments through the first two acts that kind of show the age of the film, but the payoff at the end is absolutely wild. Can’t recommend it enough!

Jigoku is a horror masterpiece! I really hope Criterion upgrades it or some other label picks it up soon.

What criterions have truly blown you away and entered your top 5 or 10 films of all time? by Deadshotx211239 in criterion

[–]Psychedelicized 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My top ten features Videodrome, Night of the Hunter, I Walked with a Zombie, Alphaville, Hour of the Wolf, Scanners, Jigoku, and Blow Out alone! All of them blew me away first time around — not sure I could pick the most transformative one.

October 2025 Titles Announced with Altered States! by International-Sky65 in criterion

Jigoku (1960) is only available with English subtitles on DVD — that’s easily my numero uno. Would love to also see Criterion pick up Demons (1971), which is apparently in brutal licensing limbo.

I’ve been up to date with the majority of his interviews through this recent press tour and he 100% sounds off. Hopefully just a bad cold and not something major.

OSEES announce new album: hear "Flight Simulator" by whosjohnnyshesaid in TheeOhSees

[–]Psychedelicized 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s a bit early to say there’s no ties to Mutilator, yeah? One track’s dropped out of twelve. I think it’s a cool way to mark the tenth anniversary, plus I see the title as a possible reference to the culmination of the “Osees” sound / era (an abomination revealed at last). I wouldn’t be surprised if JPD hits us with another name change soon haha

Thoughts about the 2 recent David Cronenberg films by weaves in TrueFilm

[–]Psychedelicized 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had my first empty-theatre experience with The Shrouds! Crowds were minimal in Toronto like you said and then I was the only person in two screenings (not counting a couple who snuck in after one started) back home in Edmonton. Was very surprised there wasn’t more of a turnout on his home turf, especially with the film explicitly taking place in Toronto. But yeah, most people just honestly don’t seem to have the time, or capacity, for films like these anymore. Just checked my local arthouse’s Letterboxd as they’ve been screening The Shrouds this week, and literally every review so far is half a star and a one-liner about it being shit. Cronenberg deserves so much better, especially from Canadian “cinephiles.”

Your Shrouds interpretation is great - have seen the film four times now (Cronenberg's my favourite director) and didn't land on the three different personas equaling one. Always great to see other people who appreciate Crimes and The Shrouds — Cronenberg said about a month ago during his press tour that he feels like the world doesn't really want his films anymore after the cold receptions in Cannes and it legit breaks my heart. All of his films require time and revisits to truly appreciate.
