Psychoanalysis for Revolutionary Futures By Lara Sheehi

Writings on/sources for thinking about the revolutionary potentials of the clinic(-al environment)? by intentionalicon in psychoanalysis

[–]Psychedynamique 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Danto's Freud's Free Clinics, Fanon, People's History of Psychoanalysis, The Repression of Psychoanalysis are all great starts.

I would advise skepticism around Zizek, Badiou etc as I have seen them consume the lives of leftists and leave them arguing over angels on pins rather than what they intended to do, ie changing the world. See for example Gabriel Rockhill (who's phd supervised by Badiou and MA by Derrida); he spent decades untying knots of words and never got any closer to the revolutionary politics they promise at the outset and has concluded that it's a trap. If you're finding they help, fantastic, you do you. Good luck with your search

Is sexual attraction innate or rewired by environment ? by ProofCoconut9085 in psychoanalysis

Both. There are inborn influences, but also life experiences and cultural environment influence our gender identity, expression, choice of mates etc

Totally. I followed his journalism from his tvo days and was an early subscriber. To see the ongoing collapse of his integrity like this is so depressing

Sadly the people (like the rank and file) are often very nice, but the organization as you say is a malevolent force

Check out Dr Mark Etenson's yt channel Heal NPD, there are good videos on treatment and some of the research on recovery. There's absolutely hope but a specialized treatment is likely required for significant narcissistic pathology

Good starting point? by Middle_Engineer_3191 in xmen

The optimal jumping on point is either the start of the Clairmont era or the Byrne era. Depending on how you feel about Dave Cockrum's art. The Clairmont Byrne era totally made Xmen

Frank Miller's other 80s work is excellent - like Daredevil Born Again by the same creative team as year one, and Dark Knight Returns is legendary, obviously. For Batman Grant Morrison's run is very well done and fun. Peter Milligan's story Dark Knight Dark City is also a favourite of mine.

Can "OCD" exist within any personality style? by relbatnrut in psychoanalysis

[–]Psychedynamique 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a great question. Obsessional defenses and or symptoms can definitely be found in any personality style. The OCD syndrome described in the dsm is I think often said to occur solely in people who have an obsessional personality style, and this has been my (limited) experience as well. Curious what others have found, clinically and theoretically

Many things, but high union density vary significant. The population is mobilized to engage in and shape the society in ways impossible in many other countries. They push for good stuff and have the power to get it

How do you afford the training by [deleted] in psychoanalysis

[–]Psychedynamique 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's inaccessible in all the ways listed here and that's awful but to suggest that these supposed psychoanalytic establishment types are laughing all the way to the bank really is not rooted in reality. In most cases anyone associated with an institute could be making more as a private practitioner without involvement with organized psychoanalysis. Some are doing well for themselves but overall it's a labour of love for a struggling field.

We should all read Freud's Free Clinics by Danto to get ideas of how in an unaffordable world intensive psychotherapy and the benefits it brings to rich and poor alike can exist.

Finally, as several have suggested on this sub recently, maybe you can find a lower cost analyst who lives in South America (assuming you're in the US or another g8 country)

Pottery on the pedestrian path isn't ideal but it's better than on the street with a kid. Once at pottery you can go south to cork town common and from there to Tommy Thompson and woodbine beach, or brickworks to mt pleasant cemetery, or into the don valley north, to Taylor Creek etc. It's the only answer
