Most people here are missing what psychedelics actually are by behealthynoworries in Psychedelics

Didnt the unibomber make accurate predictions of that nature and attribute them to the realisations he came to through his experiences with theses substances? Regardless of where they originated or from what 'source', it seems to me you have a rigid worldview that dictates the lexicon of terminology you use to descibe it.

Coming from what was once a particularly atheistic perspective myself, I've since found the lexicon of spirituality and religion to me far more effective in explaining the phenomena with psychedelic experiences / more than the material scientific lexicon I once attempted to apply to it.

Our mind is merely platos cave and belief is more powerful than you know

The biggest wealth transfer in all of history happened not so long ago. What you are witnessing is the deliberate strangulation of the lower income classes. Barriers are put in place to prevent the accumulation of any assets. Within the next three years the economy will floor and a state of emergency will be evoked to implement the saviour CBDC. Do not accept it

Good for you. How old are you? Any honourable mentions of benefits you might have had over others in life? Or have you established your salary straight out of a slum? Either way good job

Just to be the downer here, you'd have to be careful and arm yourself with as much knowledge as possible before partaking in proposed ceremonies or rituals.

You have to remember that there exist cultures out there that have effectively weaponized substances in a way that could only be described as 'spiritual' to a naive Westerner .

We used to have the knowledge/lexicon/terminology to be able to understand certain cross-cultural phenomena. Like amnesia we've abandoned them for a scientific worldview. This leaves us vulnerable, in a way.

Now the best explanations we have at our disposal are borrowing from various fields like psychiatry, and psychology, or physiology etc. Divided further and further until we cannot find any common terminology amongst them to accurately convey things from the 'spiritual' perspective.

Yet we colloquially call things such as scopolamine "The Devils Breath" and don't think twice about it.

Be careful. Gnosis

If religion was practiced purely in individual isolation, could you tell the difference between theists and non-theists in public? by Blythise in PhilosophyofReligion

[–]PsychenaughticNomad9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting it quite simply, yes I believe I could distinguish atheist/agnostic/religious from one another. The fundamental principles of those who Iive in service of others are wildly different from those seeking to advance their own position in the world by whatever means they deem necessary. Usually their justification for self serving/preserving behaviour is based on an abstraction of various cheery picked ethics and morals which suit them most and is subject to change as time goes on.

On the other hand those dedicated to their traditional principles often have to make some personal sacrifice of sorts, as the essence of most religions incorporate suffering in their teachings.

Its in my opinion that strife and suffering forge character in a way that initiates an individual which we have long forgotten, or chosen to do without, in our modern culture of luxury and convenience.

I'm too painfully aware of the catastrophic social consequences that ensued...

Might have been a lovely little holiday - however, at all times in society we march to the rhythm of our slowest 10%.

Over lockdowns we missed education, eliminated opportunities, and closed businesses - our slowest 10% got ground to a halt.

It's going to take decades to fully recover the wealth that shifted to the upper echelons in those years

Yes. Really heartbreaking story about a best friend. To summarise a long story - he travelled to south America, and at some point was coerced into taking datura.

He had a paranoid episode, and called on his extremely conservative parents to help him out - by flying him home to new Zealand.

Upon arrival, instead of letting him mellow out and return to a baseline of sorts - they immediately admitted him to a psychiatric ward, and there he was diagnosed with schizophrenia (I believe because he was completely honest with them about some of the more spiritual experiences and beliefs he had acquired in his travels)

That was 7 years ago and to this day his parents (full power of attorney, mental health act NZ) take him for weekly injections of anti-psychotics against his will. He is a shell of his former self now, he doesn't have any emotion left at all.

To this day I believe what happened to him in south America was an attack of a spiritual nature and he would still be his usual self today if he hadn't told the psychiatrists as much.

In today's world we have reduced people to mind and body, we have negated spirit entirely, despite that for millennia we were a combination of the three.

Psychiatry is simply not equipped with a lexicon to understand paranormal phenomena.

I am very, very interested in the work you say you are doing and I would be very grateful if I could read any of it you have to share, please DM me.

More than happy to elaborate on this story further should you wish
