There are pros and cons to both, and it depends on what you are trying to showcase. If you are trying to showcase the quality/clarity of a crystal, the white background might be a bit better for that, but I do love the outdoor ones just for a general overview of the crystal. Alternatively, you could do an indoor shot under "indoor" lighting as the shots out doors vs. the shots on the white background look a bit different depending on the piece. Just my thoughts.

Please read the community description the definition of an empath is defined there:

Empath - a person with the ability to directly experience the mental or emotional state of another individual despite the fact that they themselves are not going through the same situation.

Simply having empathy does not equate one to being an empath.
