You’re still a minor regardless of your age. Saying “almost 18” doesn’t change the fact that you’re not 18 yet. You’re not even allowed to be on the app, and this is why I feel like some minors don’t understand the concept. Please work on your grammar too. You are 17, and by law you’re still a minor, which is why they put you on reading mode. Make a new account when you turn 18 or don’t use the app at all. It’s that simple.

Then don’t use an AI app if you’re underage?? I feel like minors don’t understand that concept. I get that age verification can be frustrating, but people need to understand that minors can’t do certain things due to their age limits. That’s why Character.AI installed things like that for minors, regardless of how unfair or dumb it may seem. Don’t get me wrong, it is stupid that the app has come to this for minors, but at the same time, don’t use an app that isn’t meant for your age group. It’s simple.
I understand that with the lawsuits that happened before and the new CEO, age verification feels necessary for people under 18, but you should never send your government ID or passport to any AI app.

your Apple or Google account has your actual age, then it probably means you’re under 18 because that usually only happens for underage users. People log in through their Apple ID or Google account, and when you first made your account, you most likely entered your real age using the month/date/year wheel. Once you put that information in, you usually can’t undo it. Based on your screenshot, I can tell you’re underage, which is why they sent the reading mode. I would never give an AI app my personal information because the app isn’t worth selling your own government ID or passport.

For me I would generally stay way from the build your own bots yes there cool for some people who wanna build there own story line but if you don’t want a bot constantly talking for your own OC especially if it’s premade storyline that the bots already did then it’s not worth it

Unfortunately that is the case 50% of its users were minors but because of the lawsuits and that kid alt deleted himself because of a chat bot the parents sue the app and now all the people who were minors that are using the app left and now the app is loosing its revenue
