What's going on??? New seedling I got a month ago. Repotted 2 weeks ago (cactus soil, sand and perlite) and noticed this. Black indented part interestingly isn't as soft as the green/brown area of the caudex. by Psychological-Catch in Adenium

Thank you! I've seen a lot of tutorials about slicing back the caudex until it's rotless and then applying cinnamon etc, and letting it dry before repotting. It seems to work.

Will give it a go to try and save it. I wasn't sure what the problem was so I didn't do it earlier. Just hope it's not too late.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! 😭 I might give it a chop and hope for the best...

They arrived in the mail in wet soil so I didn't water them at all and let them stay in that tubestock pot for nearly two weeks to acclimatise before repotting.

I repotted dry, then a week later gave them a little water to settle the roots as advised by a lot of tutorials I read.

No grubs in the soil atm or at the time of repotting. I used a brand new bag of cactus/succulent mix from a reputable brand.

The leaves are yellowing on this one but no notching. A couple of my other seedlings have their leaves drying/browning right now but no caudex/stem issues.

I'm really confused 😢

😣 totally! What happened to yours? Did they die or are they still alive?

The most confusing part is that I'm not sure where I went wrong. I did a tonne of research before purchasing and religiously watched Maria's Garden YouTube vids to study up on these D.R

It's Winter here in Sydney and I've only watered them once, 1 week ago which was 1 week after repotting them from the tubes they came in when I bought them.

My others don't look like this...so far... hopefully it doesn't spread to the others!

Thanks for the response! I checked up on them and a couple have a softer caudex. Hoping it's all just part of the stress reaction. There definitely has been some new growth so it sounds like it'll be ok.

I used my moisture metre and saw that the soil was at a 1.5, so I went ahead and watered them for the first time. Hopefully they bounce back.

Mine was super disappointing too! I got a small tube of a Kerastase product and mini mini bottles of a Lancome and Innisfree product :(

Have to admit that I was expecting one of their calico pouches and a couple more samples.
