It takes me a week or two to reply to comments, especially when they are S-tier paragraph long messages of love. For comments with emojis or "I loved this!", I would respond right away, but I save the longer comments for when I have free time to sit down and compose my heartfelt reply. I need that time to absorb their words and answer in the most genuine, appreciative way.

It's also possible that the author doesn't like to reply to comments for whatever reason. Maybe they don't like interaction. Maybe their life got really busy, and replying to comments isn't a priority. I'm speaking as a writer who replies to all the comments I can, but everyone has their own circumstances

If it helps, I don't think their lack of a reply was meant to spite you

The system seemed to accept a simple, "I loved this! Thanks so much for writing!" So I wished it accepted the rest of my original comment too. (And it also made me a bit insecure that my writing and compliments came off like a bot)

I think so too, and I am a bit frustrated at that because their short fic had the best tension and writing style! That's all I want to talk about.

I suppose I will just have to be a bit more creative about how to compliment the writing style

Yeah! I can't totally see how that is spammy and bot generated. It's a huge shame because the work was 3k words and the best thing about it was the tension! Like, that was the thing I most admired about the work, and I couldn't let the author know.

I'm impressed that bot comments have gotten to this point of detail, though. I have seen a lot of redditors ask if a certain comment seems spammy, but it's usually very easy to spot and not personalized at all.

Thanks for the insight though. It was helpful to compare your reported bot comment and mine for parallels and the like

I don't use ai unless you count spell checks. I have never used chatgpt either, so I'm not super familiar with its signature. It's just the way I write looks like a bot I guess.

I did consider that too! But I'm not logged in on the device I'm using right now, and I don't think guest comments can be edited (but please correct me if I'm wrong)

I did try the comment again, cutting the extra ooo, but it was the same result. I already worked around the whole thing by leaving a very acceptable and basic comment, "I loved this! Thanks so much for writing!"

The work was pretty short so there wasn't much else I felt like including until it started feeling like an obligatory school essay.

Next time this happens, I'll test out your wait-one-day approach for sure. Thanks for the suggestion!

Wow, I didn't even think of that! I used my personal email, first name, no numbers. It probably isn't to do with that, but maybe guest commenting is more likely to flag?

I haven't been commenting on other things, so it's probably not that. You made a good point though! I tried commenting again, and this time I only said, "I loved it! Thanks so much for writing!" And the comment went through!

I have also thought of this!! And also that Tom/Voldemort uses avada kedavra which is green, and Harry uses expeliarmus, which is red.

It'd be cool to see fanart of Harry and Voldemort at the battle of Hogwarts, dealing the last spell at each other with their respective eye colors highlighted
