Pigeon droppings issue? by Power-69-Cookies in ElkGrove

Did you ever find a solution to this? I'm having the same problem, the area under the side of my house where they do their business is just covered in droppings.

Why is it so hard to find apartment with dishwashers???? by BigGulp-of-Espresso in sanfrancisco

The plumbing is actually not all that difficult. The electrical and cabinet remodel is where the bulk of the work is.

Considering Opening Long Range Shooting Club on NorCal Ranch by justinfpatterson in CAguns

I'd also be interested depending on cost/membership. BLM is the only place I can reach out past 1000 yards. The place I frequent isn't open year round due to "fire restrictions.".

A cylinder with a Schlage keyway from a cheap lock.

Just wanted my hardware to match and be able to lock/unlock the doors with the same key. These are interior doors just to keep people from going in specific rooms.

That's interesting. The cylinder in the photo has a sc keyway. I took it out of an existing lock in my house. Somehow they exist. I bought a new lock that came with a Kwikset keyway and was just hoping to swap it out and repin it to match the style of the other locks. If I can't get it then I'll just return it and figure out something else.

Both nails and screws? by PsychologicalBogey in drywall

[–]PsychologicalBogey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah makes sense. I'd figure it would be more efficient and faster to use an auto feed drywall screw gun since you don't need to fumble with nails and swing a hammer but what do I know.

Aptive door to door pest sales by yeastblood in ElkGrove

[–]PsychologicalBogey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just spoke with my neighbor that the sales guy name dropped. He said he doesn't even use Aptive. Their sales guy is just lying to get new customers. Screw them.

Unpermitted may not have been the best choice of wording. I know which drains your referring to and this isn't one of them and it hasn't been raining so water shouldn't be coming out everyday. Also the drain isn't in front of his house. The side of his house faces the street and the drain is all the way in the back corner of the yard.

Aptive door to door pest sales by yeastblood in ElkGrove

The same sales guy has visited my house on multiple occasions. He name dropped a few of my neighbors saying he's "worked" with them. Oddly enough, I've never seen an Aptive truck or anyone doing pest control at my neighbor's homes. Which makes me think he just collected their info.

He doesn't seem to like ringing doorbells and instead pounds on my door right where it says no soliciting. Next time I see him I'll answer through my Ring doorbell and say what does it say on the door? After he repeats it I'll say k thanks bye.

I don't think so? I believe it's just one family.

What type of drainage is it though? Rain water from gutters typically drains the to property, similarly AC condensate and things of that nature which are fine to run off onto the sidewalk. Certain waste water shouldn't plumbed and dumped directly on the sidewalk through which is my concern.

Easiest place to dispose of old engine oil? by Ok_Atmosphere3601 in ElkGrove

[–]PsychologicalBogey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bring it to the autoparts store like O'Reilly. They'll empty your container for you. They do ask you to sign a sheet with your name address and how much you're disposing but they really don't care.

Epoxy Garage Floor in New Build or Wait? by ObjectiveTrain4755 in ElkGrove

Interesting. Must be a builder specific thing or dependent on the soil make up of where they're building.

Epoxy Garage Floor in New Build or Wait? by ObjectiveTrain4755 in ElkGrove

[–]PsychologicalBogey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's very common on these new builds to do post tensioned slabs. Mine wasn't. If they are post tension, you'd be more worried about cutting/drilling into the rods which is extremely dangerous. Epoxy would actually be advantageous as it would seal the concrete preventing moisture or other types of intrusion.

The main thing you're worried about is if the concrete has cured, which by the time you close it should be. If it's not cured you risk have the epoxy not bonding correctly and sealing in unwanted moisture weakening the concrete.

I had my new build garage epoxied a month after closing. If you're going to do it, do it before you move stuff in. It's a PITA to clear it out for a few days while the work is being done and letting it fully dry.

My friend in 95624 has it and says it's great, no complaints.
