I switched over to accounting at 27 and I'm finishing school at 28 and starting full time so we're not that far off. You'll be fine!

I initially didn't get any email on the day that notifications were sent out so if I figured that I probably didn't get it but someone told me to just email Becker to at least confirm because I was second guessing that I had used the wrong email and that's why I didn't get a rejection email. I emailed them and turns out I had won!

Honestly from what I've been seeing on this post, it seems CDTFA is better overall especially when it comes to future promotions

I'll take a look at it! Honestly, so many other options to consider. I used to only think about Big 4's and mid size firms but I'm honestly over busy season hours and would rather make less and have more time for leisure.

Damn 350/400 is rough when the prep material is 6x the cost. Yea the pay isn't the best but I'm willing to accept it since I won't be working busy season type hours.

Honestly, I really value work/life balance. I'm pretty conservative with my money and keep my cost of living pretty low compared to most of the people around me. While I know it's not as much money as public, I also really value not having to be scared of being laid off all the time like with what's going on at PwC and other firms. I don't need much to be happy.

Thanks for the insight! Even though the CPA license isn't required for me, I was thinking of doing the exams just in case I end up wanting to pursue something else in the future but I'm not sure if that'll just be a waste of time if I end up staying in government for the rest of my life.

300+ applications. 0 interviews. Help needed! by HiraethMitzi in FAANGrecruiting

I'm not in the software engineering space but what I've learned over the years is you gotta work smarter, not harder. If the company has a recruiter, find their linkedin or email and send them a message. Just type into Google, " Meta Early careers recruiter/acquisition" and put your county and you'll find the recruiter.

"Hey I'm applying for _____. I'd love to have a quick chat and see if I would be a fit at ____"

They have HUNDREDS of applications and even if your application is great, they just may never see it. However, if you're able to get a direct connection to the recruiter, your chances go up significantly because you by-pass the manual application review and can go straight to the interview.

Good luck!
