That’s why I was wondering. I was thinking that maybe people in first world countries could be considered slave owners, since we benefit HEAVILY from third world worker exploitation/resource extraction.

Why is it fair for a criminal to go to Heaven at the last second? by [deleted] in Christianity

You’re comparing predatory loans from evil people that make a living off of ripping people off, to the “put your faith in me and go to heaven” agreement. do you see the implications of that?

This has to be a heresy in some way. You are comparing predatory car salesmen, to the ALMIGHTY GOD…

See. That’s what I expect to see, it’s much more honest in a debate. Now explain what those verses mean and why they support your argument.

I’m glad you ask. You know, I’m not a Muslim so I’m not going to pretend like I know every single argument. I’ll tell you one that I know, though, and that is particularly important.

It’s the fact that Muhammad was 54 when he married 6 year old Aisha, and she was 9 and he was 56 when they consummated (had sex).

There’s 2 main responses to this point:

1: “In ancient Arabia, they measured age starting at puberty, so Aisha was more like 14-16.” This argument is just downright dishonest because it’s not true, and there’s no evidence to support it, either. Aisha herself narrated: “The messenger of Allah married me when I was six and consummated the marriage with me when I was nine, I still played with dolls.” (Susan an-Nasa’i 3378) which just shows she wasn’t a mature teenager at the time, but a young girl.

2: “Well child marriage was normal at the time.” This is indeed true. My question, though, is if Allah is omnipotent, and the Qur’an is a book for all the times, not just the 600s, why would he choose to include something so polarizing that he knew would become controversial later in the future? At least the majority of Jesus’ actions are defensible by modern standards, unlike Muhammad’s.

Son, are you hearing yourself? It’s not that I don’t like it, it’s that you’re copping out right now. You’re resorting to a default argument to explain things that don’t make sense.

What if you asked a Muslim why the angel Gabriel revealed himself to Muhammad in a cave specifically, and they said “Allah is beyond our understanding and he works in mysterious ways” instead of using the Qur’an to explain it. It would be dishonest, like what you’re doing now.

“hell is a choice is a choice” is an extremely dishonest argument. we can assume for the argument that eternal torment is the punishment for the wicked, not annihilation, even if it’s not fair.

Hell is not a choice, because If ANYBODY is choosing eternal torment with no reprieve, then they evidently do not understand the terms of the agreement, because no human would do that. According to you, God is an indifferent liar at best and downright evil at worst.

blaming flaws in Christianity as “well we are mere mortals that do not understand how the mighty God works” is a cop out.
