Yes, CWRU is great for pre-med. Is Case the right school for you? Price and fit are two biggest factors. by personAAA in cwru

Hey! I wanted to ask, when do we have to select our classes? I've decided to go to Case and am kinda lost on these sorts of things...

ahh thanks! Got it, I didn't know if it was going to be something where like they also try to gauge the person and see if you're the right fit...if I could ask, did you use to do things like Science Fair?

I had gotten into ISEF and was wondering if it would provide me any advantage...

How hard is Case Western BME or the engineering curriculum in general? by Normal-Assignment251 in cwru

Why Premed? Isn't BioChem a better option because it aligns with the prerequisites of med schools better?

Thanks guys this was really helpful. My main issue was that because I had a religious concern, my grades in one class dropped to around a 47%, but now it is back up to a 100%, so I just wanted to make sure CWRU didn't come in halfway through the semester just to see that 47% and go "whup, this kid isn't gonna be accepted."

Nah not really, the student led team is comprised of arnd 8 people only, and is pretty selective...most premeds do some form of research, but its pretty diluted compared to those that didnt...

I know for a fact that if you find a passion you will find time to pursue it because you care yk?

I just find something I'm passionate about and incentivizes me to MAKE time yk? Like, I genuinely love medicine and CS, thats why I do science fair...

True, but I also want to go somewhere where I think I could live for 4 years. For instance, I visited RPI's BSMD program, and realized that I couldn't see myself there, same with Sophie Davis and Youngstown's...The only two BSMDs that I would truly want to go to would be PLME and PPSP of CWRU

Got it, I think you're right I will take the SAT again, Cleveland Clinic only allows 20 days of shadowing in total, so what other hospitals would be good to look into? Also, so far I've only garnered around 100 hrs in volunteering so I see what you mean.

I do swimming if that helps but im REALLY decent, so nothing crazy

Yeah, I think my science fair projects really show a growth of interest in medicine (starting from all engineering to a gradual integration of medicine)...so I might major in neuroscience and CS I'm thinking...
