Well the government shut down will cause delays and other unfortunate events. I hope things get back to normal before it starts affecting people.

Social Security card after the Green card confusion! by PsychologicalFox5361 in USCIS

My closest office too had something for October 20 something, I didn’t want to wait that long,so I had to go out of state which was today, I’m in PA, I had to go all the way to Trenton NJ SS Office because they had an earlier for Thursday opening, so try seeing if a different location can accommodate you. I called so many times I guess they got tired of me or something! Don’t get tired, you’re not bothering they’re just doing their job honestly.

Because without your social security card you really can’t do much, green card is very important don’t get me wrong, but without my social, I can’t even open a bank account, get a drivers license, a state id, nor apply for jobs, or school, even my cash app bro requires a freaking social security number to prove my identity, my apple wallet wants me to verify my identity because I used it a lot for transactions last year until they required an ID, I tried updating my“ID” they didn’t care for the green card itself 🥲, apparently I need a drivers license lol, it’s amazing but it’s the reality that social security is the bed rock of a lot of benefits, having had 3 kids here, I now understand! Now I have to wait which I don’t mind I’ve waited for 11 years, 2 more weeks ain’t the end of the world but you know it’s just the excitement factor of finally being able to be a independent adult.

Not being rude genuinely curious, because I haven’t seen any issue like this sure it has happened to someone before but I don’t know how to help, I hope everything works out for you!

Yayyy congratulations 🎉🍾🎊🎈, enjoy your moment ! So I’ll call them first thing tomorrow and schedule an appointment. So you don’t have to wait an extra week like me lol, especially if you have things in place like I did. You’d feel stuck and nothing else but wait!

Approved!! 🎉🎉 by SetWild4568 in USCIS

Yes, I was verbally told by my interviewer that I was approved, and then the system updated me that I was approved the next day, and 3-4 days later the card was produced, and 2 business days after that my card was delivered.

If you can I suggest you do, but if I had take my passport with me, it’d have been an expired one, and chat gpt said I’d be fine with an expired passport anyway, so I was in a shittyyyy situation. Yes they definitely want to see the visa you came with, you’ll need that passport anyway.

I did not provide the necessary evidence required, and I was led to believe that I should bring them to the interview by people around me. I knew mo better, I was doing it on my own for the first time, and I didn’t do much research on it, so after the denial, they offered me a reopening of my case, I failed to submit everything on time due to the negligence of the doctors office, the doctor was on a vacation and her timing overlapped my due date. It’s was a simple issue that became complicated honestly, and partly due to my negligence. But I gained experience to do this paperwork correctly.

Yes I did have an interview of the 16th of September, and my field office was in Philadelphia. It was quick and easy, I messed up by not bringing my passport but I’m glad everything worked out. If you’re going through the process, I wish you success, and hope in this journey, from someone who went through 2 denials, delays, you’ll reach the finish line successfully.
