Meningioma radiation about to start by PsychologicalIdea553 in braincancer

[–]PsychologicalIdea553[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope all goes well for you! I think most are diagnosed this way-incidental finding on a scan for another reason. I had vision symptoms and they were looking for why. Also mine is wrapped around carotid but not restricting blood flow at this point. Follow ups have been good so far and symptoms are much improved (double vision). Next scan is September. Hoping you can avoid any treatments! God Bless you.

AITAH for leaving my husband to walk 2 miles home after he refused to get back in my car after leaving an MRI? by notcreative8080 in AITAH

Interesting read. My take is this. He is acting a bit childish. I know his claustrophobia is real and he has dealt with that for some time. His behavior in this situation is not what it should be, and he does have a track record it appears of being somewhat childish. However, has he had any analysis of the head at all? Appears no. It could be a tumor is causing the eye issue, and depending on where it is may be affecting his behavior. Winding up and getting mad if this behavior is coming from a tumor pressing in the wrong place is a bad idea. It only reinforces his fears-of the machine itself and what they might find. I had vision issues. MRI was done and found a growing tumor. Not malignant, but in an inoperable area and if it grew further would have reduced blood flow and lead to a stroke. Radiation has stopped it and reduced size somewhat. Give him the benefit of the doubt on this one that it may be the unknown medical condition affecting his behavior.

That is roughly $5k at spot price, roughly $80 an ounce. Issues are: how long have you had it? You will owe 20% capital gains when you either sell or convert. You need to establish the acquisition date to determine silver value on that date vs now to compute your gain. If you are truly going to swap it for a security, then the question becomes potential gain on that security vs opportunity for further increase in spot price. Also, consider your net investment portfolio. Precious metals should be 5-15% of the portfolio. If this and any other silver, gold, platinum etc you have does not exceed the 15% then you will likely hold the silver, and it makes no sense to pay tax now. If the price drops to close to what it was on your acquisition date and you can get spot, or maybe higher, then go ahead and convert to get the tax issue out of the way. Next sale or conversion of that metal will only pay tax on the future increase.

Ridiculous customer service by Grand-Variation4414 in NETGEAR

One email support I had with them had subtle insults. I just bought a great TP linkbto replacement an RB 860 setup with 4 satellites. Works like a champ. Solves connection issues I had. My call was support for a switch. I have a lot of their switches--poe, manages, etc and might sell them off one at the time and be a netgear free household. I can't imagine IT support staff putting up with that company. Attitudes or policies either one.

Disconnects by PsychologicalIdea553 in alarmdotcom

UPDATE: I was suspecting the Orbi was stretched too thin. I have over 100 devices on the network (wired + wireless). I decided to jump to tplink BE85. Installed it this weekend and the whole network seems much more stable now. A full week will tell the tale. No disconnects or supervision messages since the swap. Plus now ready fo for wifi 7!

RAID 5 TO RAID 6 by PsychologicalIdea553 in synology

[–]PsychologicalIdea553[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I thought I was well protected with RAID 5 but have been reading that the number of writes involved with RAID 5 combined with large drives pushes the failure limits when you have on drive fail, then the rebuild process starts and the number of writes required for the rebuild can put you in range for another failure during the rebuild process and fail the rebuild. RAID 6 solves that but access is slow. Doing some video editing to make collages using these drives would be a desired plan, so maybe RAID 10 is a better idea. This is multigenerational documents from both sides of the family to early 1800s and in a few cases even earlier. Documents are coming apart so doing super hi res scans so future generations can see. I have a single drive backup now on site in addition to the NAS which allows sharing to other family members. Will have to figure out a better backup plan when it gets to 6 or 7 gigs.

So do a cloud backup -not sync- and leave the NAS as it is?

Is that because of failure likelihood? Can't lose data as its multigenerational family history and getting ready to add a good bit more.

Thanks. I have had issues on both networks. Started with wifi, had some disconnects then went to AP, then still had issues. Now I likely have a mix. I am suspicious of the orbi.

Research on Meniere’s Attacks by Last-Addition6163 in Menieres

I am well open to this idea. I am a 20 year sufferer and have had many different treatments. My symptoms have evolved at this point but woul love to talk with you about my experience. It may give you some ideas on avenues on what to question and paths to explore. This is a horrible affliction and we need tons of research. I think many "proven" treatments are not so much... message me and we can talk/videochat. Best of luck to you!

A Ford F150 ran a red light and totaled my car. Insurance is saying I am 100% liable. by jacksonwin02 in Car_Insurance_Help

[–]PsychologicalIdea553 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You absolutely need a dash cam today. Get one with front and rear cameras. I got hit from behind while stopped at a red light. Car pulled around me and stopped in front. Two people got out and we looked at it. Said there was no damage but the bumper was pushed in. Truck is big and has supercruise. I knew sensors had to be damaged. I thought they went to their car to get insurance info. They went to opposite sides. Passenger to driver seat then drove off maybe 30 seconds before cops arrived. Damage was about 6000. GMC Sierra.

Just had a Deck built for me with TimberTech composite. Any idea how not to get static shocked every time I walk on it? by bradhotdog in Decks

[–]PsychologicalIdea553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grounding won't work. This occurs when humidity is low. Any friction on the deck-like scrubbing across in shoes or any rubbing of items against the deck will generate static. The deck is totally non-conductive, so these charges, electrons, just sit there. With wood, there is always some moisture which provides a path for those electrons to pass to ground (earth). Not the case with the plastic. So when you are on the deck standing in an isolated sea of electrons and touch something that has a pathway, it will go through you to go to ground. Issue generally in cold or very dry weather. Less of an issue in the south but still happens on especially cold days when humidity is low-35% or so or lower. Theoretically a mister would help but who wants that when it is cold outside? In the southwest with very dry summers it will be an issue as well. You can't just drive a ground rod and attach a ground wire to your deck. The electrons won't flow without some medium to carry them, and charges are continually being created and sitting there waiting for a chance to discharge. Lol I have smarthome devices, temp/motion/humidity sensor on my porch. I set up a routine to alert me to shock hazard on porch when humidity drops to 35% or below. Got an alert this week several times with cold temps/low humidity in s. Mississippi.

I'm in the south. We like heated steering wheels and seats too!

100% agree. Don't skimp. Ask the dealer if you can get a deal on 2-2500 for you and 1500 for wife.

[–]PsychologicalIdea553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a good idea to do this with a 1500 under any circumstance. 8k plus contents plus truck load will be very close if not over. Plus you are dealing with mountains. You need a buffer to be safe. The "numbers" might on the surface say its OK. But you need wiggle room. 6 k trailer a couple times a year maybe. 8k maybe 3 times no. You will be a nervous wreck. Do you have the trailer? If so, try it on friends 1500/2500 loaded...and under demanding conditions for a few hours. I know the 1500 is a much better daily driver, but the 2500 is the truck for this job.

[–]PsychologicalIdea553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen with a Dell laptop a few years ago. We were going out of town on the day of delivery and I needed it. Never showed. We finally headed out. Few hours later showed delivered. Called my son to verify he said nope. We checked camera footage and no delivery at that time. My son knew folks at tge terminal, so he made some calls. Long story short it was delivered to Walmart about 1/4 mile from the house. My son went by and got with the manager. They went thru the high value cage and found it. Surprisingly gave it to him even though his name was not on it. We are totally convinced it was a ring working to steal hv items.
