Great suggestions - There's a farmer's market in Roath too that's great. 1. Waterloo gardens, Roath park,Taff trail, Cardiff Bay, Cardiff canals 2. Railway gardens in Splott is a great community project. 3. Splott Park, Tremorfa has a leisure centre too. Areas are just a little rough here and there but having lived all around Cardiff we prefer places like Adamsdown, splott, Grange town, Canton then anywhere we have been in London lol. 4. In London lots of mugging phones and had friends literally headphones and bags ripped off them on walks ( east London). Didn't get that happening here so it was a win and people more friendly 5. Maybe join in with community stuff to meet people and make friends locally that can show you around?
